Lukesc1993 Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Hi, I am trying to burn an ISO to a 8x Verbatim DVD+R DL at 2.4x and at it always fails with this error (See attachments) The layer break is set right (1913760) and I have set the settings to default but I have waisted 4 disks trying to get this to work. Then I saw that the drives firmware could be updated so I downloaded the latest firmware and run the .exe but a popup box says "Target Optiarc BC-5600S is not found correctly." Any clues as to what is causing the burn errors (or is it just the firmware?) Thanks in advance ImgBurnlog2.txt
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Have you tried at 4x? You could also try enabling the 'perform opc before write' option.

Thanks for the reply, I was going to do that to be honest but as I read somewhere else that someone had 'Perform OPC before write' disabled & they were getting the exact same error so I was relucant to try it. But I shall go and do what you said and post back here the results. Thanks again

LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Your drive doesn't appear to like something about those discs. That could either be down to the spindle of discs you're using or your drive in general. So get another ('Made in Singapore') spindle of MKM-003-00 and try those. If they still fail, try cleaning your drive with a cleaning disc and try again. If it still fails, buy another drive.

Thanks for that, do you think it could be that my drives firmware is not up to date? It currently has 10A and the latest is 1.03. But I've tried updating it and I get this:
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 You probably have a special version of the drive and it won't accept the normal firmware. Did it come preinstalled in a PC you bought? If so, you'd need to get the firmware direct from whoever built your PC. EDIT: Ah yes, it's a Dell laptop. You'd need Dell firmware but you're already running their latest released version. There's a chance you could crossflash it, ask over at the MyCE / CDFreaks forums. Either way, the drive isn't that old and should have no problem with MKM-003-00 media.

I didn't think the drive would have been the problem. If all that doesn't work I'll have to go and buy an external DL burner as that's what I used before to burn the disks. Thanks again
