hn4n Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 according to what i have read from the admin's reply(http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?/topic/20476-audio-cd-verify/?hl=+cd&do=findComment&comment=142925) ,does it mean that verify cd-da data would fail in most of the conditions (if i enabled this function at options) since drives offset audio samples when reading/writing (what you write to a specific sector isn't what you'll get back when you read it)? thank u
hn4n Posted November 27, 2013 Author Posted November 27, 2013 and can u explain in more details wether there is also drive offset when reading/writing data discs? thank u
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Yes, it would fail for most drives. The only ones I can think of that verify cd-da discs without a problem are LiteOn ones. Their read/write offsets must cancel each other out. I'm not the person to talk to about offsets, search Google if you want to know more.
hn4n Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 but why other burning softwares like ashampoo and nero can verify written data after burning a image of a audio cd succesfully very often?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Maybe they don't? Maybe they don't compare the data at all? Or if they really want to compare CD-DA sectors, maybe they take a best guess at the offsets by comparing what's coming from the image and what's coming from the drive and try to match a certain number of bytes to find out when they're in sync... I've no idea. I just know that when you write a sectors worth of CD-DA to a given sector and then read it back again, what you get back is normally different.
hn4n Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 by the way,is it possible to write cd-da data to a blank dvd disc(like dvd+r, dvd-r,or dvd+r dl)?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Nope, CD only. DVDs only support 2048 byte sectors and CD-DA is 2352 bytes.
hn4n Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 thank u very much for your reply ,u are so kindhearted.
