New Kid on the Block Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 I tried using ImgBurn to burn an .ISO file on to a Dvd-R disc, and it said finished completely. but when i try to observe it says unreadable. any thoughts guys? what am I missing?

I 18:45:39 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: SONY16D1) (Speeds: 6x, 8x, 12x, 16x) A quick check on the net shows this media to have very mixed reviews . Get some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DataLifePlus discs and save the aggravation...

spinningwheel Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Start ImgBurn>right click on drive>click on "check firmware" thingy on the bottom of the menu. You'll be taken to RPC-1 and see what firmware is available for flashing your drive.
New Kid on the Block Posted September 22, 2006 Author Posted September 22, 2006 hey man, thanks so much for the help. no one else ever has any advice to give me, either dont want to or dont have any haha... anyhow, I upgraded to YYS6 firware for my drive. do you think that will fix my problem based on that log earlier? i cant change the discs yet, still have 24... haha.
spinningwheel Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 All you can do is try until you run out of discs and have to buy some new ones ...I'd suggest hanging them in the yard to scare the birds and getting some good media though .... it'll help keep the frustration level down Sorry, but I don't see a problem in your log, maybe someone else will
kevdriver Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Hey New Kid, keeping your drives firmware up to date always helps with completeing good burns. These updates contain added instructions for your burner as in what it can do and how fast it can do it. As Mr. Spinner said........ just keep burning with your present media, keeping the good verifys and chucking the bad, then buy some Verbatims, a tad bit more expensive but evens out when you go through a whole spindle with no frizbees being made...........

Me mum got a tub of these at K-Mart to make copies of her mother's recent funeral, so, I have to make the copies, of course. Naturally, I used a GOOD one for the master copy of hers.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 The program burnt + verified the disc just fine - so basically, the burn is ok so far as reading it in your PC goes. That doesn't look like a dvd video disc, it's using the wrong file systems and the size of it looks more like a vcd/svcd. If you're randomly burning images / files etc without knowing what you're doing, it might be a good idea to search Google and learn some stuff before wasting any more disc.
