Can memorex dvd+r DL 8x 8.5 gb be used to burn game?

I keep getting errors when I try to burn a game I have a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT32N should I buy a new drive or new disks? Sorry I'm new to all of this and not sure how everything works.
