Have you used those Ricoh DVD+R DL discs before?  i.e. were you able to write to them before and now you can't?

The usual cause of write errors for DVD+R DL's is inferior quality discs.  Verbatim MKM's are the preferred choice for DVD+R DL.  While I've used Ricoh DVD+R DL's before in the past without problems, I've only used a few because I could find them at Office Depot, and I needed them immediately versus waiting for Amazon.com Verbatims.

The peripheral device error is probably specific to using a USB burner.  However, it could be down to the media not being liked by the drive.  Again, have you used these discs before in this drive?

Most people's DVD+R DL write problems go away when they use Verbatim DVD+R DL instead of whatever they're using.

hiya mate thanks for the reply, I have never used the discs before, infact I have never used any discs before my mate gave me a couple to try them. il get some different discs (verbitims or mkm´s) an hope they work, thanks for your help

MKM's are Verbatims.  MKM is part of the Disc ID, the string on a disc that identifies its manufacturer.  Well, ideally it does.  :)  Sometimes they're faked, like past fake Sony discs were made with SONY in their Disc ID.

im new to all this so im pretty useless, but thankyou for you kind help, will give them a try & hopefully everything will be fine

You'll want to look for something like this in Verbatims:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005F2YPH2/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I live in the United States so I get them from Amazon.com.  Where you live, your mileage may differ.

You'll also want to try and get the DataLife ones made in Singapore.  Like these:

http://www.amazon.com/Verbatim-DataLifePlus-Printable-50-Disc-98319/dp/B00DT6OWFG/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

It will say so on the white label on the outside of DataLife Plus brand.  I think they may have switched to United Arab Emirates now.  I've not tested those yet to see if they're MKM's and if they write okay.  The Singapore I used to get are no longer sold by Amazon.com, only through resellers selling 50 of them for between $130 and $280!  :greedy:  The ones Amazon.com sells now are white inkjet hub printable ones made in UAE rather the non hub printable ones I used to get from Singapore.

The above links are ones I've used before with very few failures that weren't down to a failing drive.  Except, as I said, I've not tried the UAE made ones yet.

I have received the newer kind of these Verbatim DVD+R DL's with inkjet labels that are now hub printable.  They're made in the United Arab Emirates, but the Manufacturer ID is still MKM, the same manufacturer as the ones made in Sinapore.  I haven't burned one yet, but the indications are the UAE made ones are probably as good as the ones made in Singapore.
