Edit: Solved? .. Searched through the registry for this string 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 then it came across Gear sys and i deleted the UpperFilter. Now ImgBurn writes .. I wonder for how long.

Hi,

On my laptop (HP Pavilion G7 2200SD) the Mashita DVD-Ram will read fine, but every blank i put in it says its not empty, no matter what blank i put in. I installed the latest Gear drivers which is suposed to be the fix for this problem but that didn't help.

I've read that some register entry's need to be removed, that didn't help.

These are the things i did to get the drive to write..  http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-hardware/get-a-message-there-is-a-problem-with-the-driver/960af4de-4894-41ca-954c-d6f617c49b3d

Not sure its an ImgBurn issue, but i have no where else to turn after 2 days of searching. The drive has worked, after i uninstall it from my devices and then reboot, but just once. After that, never again.

I think Mashita is a Panasonic product but there is nothing to be found within their support section. Not even drivers.

Thanks in advance for your help!

That's the problem here... it shouldn't be erroring out on that command.

ImgBurn has a 'Filter Driver' feature in the Tools menu. You can use that to clear out the Upper and Lower Filter drivers too.

Microsoft's has a CD/DVD 'Fix It!' tool that can also correct this type of thing.

Hi Lightning UK,

Thank you to start with!  Sorry i didn't reply any sooner.

After I deleted the upper / lower filters it worked .. once.. After a reboot it stopped again.

The filter driver shows this:

===============================================
Filter Driver Load Order - ImgBurn v2.5.8.0
===============================================

Upper Device Filter:  [None Found]
 Upper Class Filter:  [None Found]
             Device:  CD/DVD-ROM Device
 Lower Class Filter:  [None Found]
Lower Device Filter:  [None Found]

The Microsoft fix tels me my operating system (Win 8) is not supported, somehow that doesn't surprise me  :eyebrow:

So far it's not working. I don't burn a whole lot of cd / dvd's but stil its frustrating ..
