LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 There's something wrong with your F: drive. Is it an internal hdd?
1hooligan Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Thanks for getting back so quickly. No it's an external hard drive (WD). That's what I have the files stored on then I transfer them to a DVD. So you think it's damaged maybe? Look in to a new hard drive I guess? Thanks again for your time!
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 It could be the drive itself or just its connection to the PC - as in the port or cable. Try running scan disk on it and tell it to check for surface errors. There's probably a WD tool for testing drives (prior to RMA) too that you could try.
1hooligan Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 I noticed the USB cable seemed a bit loose even though it was powering on ok so I switched cables and I'm running the error check right now....I'll update the results when it's done. Thanks again!
1hooligan Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 The error check said it found a few errors and they were fixed. I ran a new disk and everything looked great it got further in the process than it had before. But when it got to the verfying sectors part another I/O error message popped up. Here are the logs... LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 That one will be down to the media you're using. Buy some better discs - Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.
1hooligan Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 That's a relief, at least I know the hard drive is ok. I never would of known where to begin on this problem had it not been for your help Lightning UK thank you so much!
