Moving to a computer without any DVD drives so I'm backing up all of my games to ISOs. One game is Age of Empires 3, which has 3 CDs to it. CDs 2 and 3 copy to ISOs without any problems.

CD 1 however gives me different errors depending on what drive I use. All of them are "failed to read sector ___", and they are either accompanied by "L-EC Uncorrectable Error", "Timeout on Logical Unit" or one other generic one that I forget. I've also tried switching read speeds, but the same thing happens.

I searched the site for others in this situation, and the suggestion seems to be copy protection. Not sure if it matters, but the games are old CDs from 2005, so is that truly a possibility? If so, any way around it? And why would CDs 2 and 3 work fine?

Here's my log:

Yes, that'll be copy protection. They don't need to protect every disc, just the one required to actually play the game - it's cheaper.

I'm afraid we can't help you duplicate those discs... or any others that are copy protected.
