E.g. the old Quake CD - track 1 is data, subsequent tracks are CD audio. I want to make an ISO image of the data track but ImgBurn insists on making an .img. Why not have the option of both?

It should be making a BIN file. The IMG one only comes into play if you've told the program to generate a CCD file - and then it has to be IMG for Virtual

Clonedrive etc to read it.

 

You can't store multiple tracks in an ISO file, they're only for basic images and ImgBurn only reads the full disc. You can't just extract the data portion.
