Nordo
For years I have been using DVD Flick for my converting to DVD (from avi; mp4, etc). Then using ImgBurn for the final burning. Recently I have been getting random freezing when playing these dvd-r discs in my dvd player. Nothing to my knowledge has been changed - same pc, same windows 7, same optical drive (Optriac DVD RW AD-7240S), same media (TYG02), same dvd player, same settings. I always disconnect my pc from the internet and turn off anti-virus software, and make sure nothing abnormal is running in the background when ripping, converting and burning. Some discs come through OK. Others are effected. I do not get any error messages at any time through the converting/burning process. I have tried converting to an "iso" file instead of a "DVD" but get the same problem. I have read all the guides on this forum, I have deleted and re-set my media and optical drive in ImgBurn. I have set all the settings in ImgBurn to default. However, I am still getting the same problem. If you look at the burnt disc in the light, you can see rings where the burning appears to have skipped or missed. My Taiyo Yuden discs have always come from the same supplier. Can anyone please help?

Nordo
Seens your drive have developed a fault. Try cleaning it with a cleaning disc. Thanks. I will try that tomorrow. I also have an unused Liteon drive (iHAS324) I found in a cupboard. I will also hook it up and try a burn.
Nordo
Now using the Liteon iHAS324. All burns are good although the Liteon only appears as an 8x burner for DVD-R - which doesn't worry me. All good.
