SPIM Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Newbie here. I've had nothing but problems trying to burn some file to DVD the past couple of days. I don't know if the problem stems from my external DVD burner taking a fall during burning but the behaviour of IMGBurn has become very odd as a result and is driving me nuts as well as costing me many discs! First it kept throwing up I/O errors when trying to verify. I tried not verifying but then it wouldn't burn anything to disc despite saying it had! Then it would freeze at various points during the writing process and wouldn't cancel until I actually disconnected the burner! Then I tried some fixes I found on the web that suggest making some settings change which didn't help a jot so i reset the defaults and finally I got some new discs (I only use Verbatim). All was well until the verify stage when I got this message: I have absolutely no idea what layouts it is referring to or why it has started throwing this message up all of a sudden. Here is the log of that session: I 18:44:24 ImgBurn Version 2.5.8.0 started! laserfan Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I don't know if the problem stems from my external DVD burner taking a fall during burning but the behaviour of IMGBurn has become very odd as a result and is driving me nuts as well as costing me many discs! Try a different burning program (Windows, BurnAware, CDBurnerXP, etc). If these error-out as well you prolly broke your drive.

I tried using Windows and after two attempts and claiming it burned the disc it was still blank! A broken drive was my original fear but I wanted to eliminate all other possibilities first. Thanks for the reply.
SPIM Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 **Update bump** Well today i got a new disc burner and a new pack of Verbatim discs. I tried to burn the files/folders that I couldn't last week with IMGBurn and I got the same "Layouts Didn't match" error message! I then tried burning an ISO file and it worked! I tried the files again this time using Burn Aware and it worked too! I tried burning a different file folder in IMGBurn and this time it finally worked. Happy? Yes! Confused? You bet!
