Problem with verification

HappyNot

Recommended Posts

After 100s of burns (same brand DVD) with no problems, my last three burns have suddenly all failed at the verification stage. (The only remotely possible change I can think of is that I have very recently burned a DL for the first time). When I then close ImgBurn and open/close the DVD tray, the DVDs work fine and a file comparison informs me all files are identical

So, 1. How do I solve this 2. Is there any reason to worry about those 3 DVDs?

Thanks.

Thanks for your answer. Now that you mention it, in the past three months my drive "disappeared" a couple of times, which I remedied by unplugging and replugging them. (I'll note that my latest burn attempts have failed in the burning phase, hanging my computer.)

1. What are the odds that the problem is with the cables instead of the drive or computer connections? (Yes, obviously it's worth trying the cables first regardless.)

2. Which cable is more likely at fault? (data/power)

3. Given your diagnosis and the fact that the disks passed a CRC file-comparison, can I be reasonably confident that the disks are fine?

I replaced the SATA cable and have since burned several DVDs with no problems.

Solely for the benefit of future searchers, here is some of the text from the above pop-up message:
