max1227 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 (edited) Tried to Download Imgburn safely -- chose the custom install, unchecked the adware options. and still got infected. Spent several hours cleaning my PC. I should have read posts like the one's below before I tried the download... http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?/topic/21658-opencandy-adware-was-a-bad-decision-and-will-cost-you-your-good-reputation/ http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?/topic/22628-please-no-open-candy-im-willing-to-pay/ http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?/topic/22899-have-you-guys-actually-checkedaudited-your-install-file-recently-opencandy-conduit-search-protect-no-opt-out-malware-etc/ http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?/topic/21952-ditch-opencandy/ http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?/topic/22079-open-candy-disastrous-move/ You guys at IMGBURN getting the message? LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 If you opted out of everything you were offered by opencandy, you shouldn't have had anything except ImgBurn installed on your PC. There's no trickery on my part there, the script for the installer is pretty basic and all of the advert stuff is offloaded to the opencandy plugin. If you really opted out of everything, maybe opencandy can take a look at a log file (if such a thing exists) and tell you why it happened.
