Burn Speed

hey new to this program but i have a quick question

I dont know whether this is a bug or just my drive, but when i select a slower burn speed like 1 - 2x (which is why i chose this program) when the burn actually starts it burns at 6x, this is probably my drives lowest speed but i am asking to make sure as my dvd's skip when they are played in a dvd player because they are burnt too fast.

I have a light-on DL-DVD burner

Thanks for any help that you can provide.

To check this we will need you to copy/paste an ImgBurn log here for us. The first thing that will do is confirm the rated write speeds of the media you are using - it may be that 1x or 2x is not supported on those discs, therefore the drive will use the minimum that is supported.

The second thing the log will tell us is what dye is on the media you are using. Typically skipping and poor playback is the result of crap media. Your log will be able to confirm this to us - for instance your discs might be using CMC MAG dye which is probably one of the worst available and could certainly cause the playback problems you mention.

Taiyo Yuden discs are at the top of the heap along with Verbatim so media is not your problem. What you posted is not the log from IMGburn .the log would have looked like this

I 01:06:41 ImgBurn Version 2.1.0.0 started!

I 01:06:41 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 1)

I 01:06:41 Initialising SPTI...

I 01:06:41 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...

I 01:06:41 Found 2 DVD-ROMs and 1 DVD?RW!

then after you burned something there would be heaps of info for us .

You should start with a firmware update for starters in IMGburn right click your drive and from the menu scroll down to where it says "check for Firmware Updates" click on that and then follow the prompts

I agree with polo - Taiyo Yuden dye is one of the best there is alongside Verbatim dye. You really should have no problems burning those at 8x so I wonder what is causing the skipping on your player.

I assume the burns all pass verify on ImgBurn ?
