W 01:13:11 Waiting for device to become ready... I've burned plenty of discs before and ive just recently come in contact with this error and it has caused about 7 coasters so far. i've been tweaking settings i've found online that are supposed to help prevent this and none have worked so far, any help would be great. currently i'm using a usb to sata on an external sony optiarc on my laptop
LIGHTNING UK! Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 You're getting a semaphore timeout... which is then causing windows to disconnect the drive. There aren't really any settings to get around this, it's a hardware issue (between the USB ports and your adapter). Try other USB ports, cables and adapters.
midlifcrisis Posted October 22, 2014 Author Posted October 22, 2014 So is there any way to determine what part is not working correctly? i think it may be the usb port but i dont want to try each one and get coasters each time. i did replace the sata cable though because i had another one laying around. I just don't want to get another molex and sata to usb cable if its not needed.
midlifcrisis Posted October 22, 2014 Author Posted October 22, 2014 I looked at previous logs of some burns i did months ago and compared them to the failed burns i've been attempting lately, and basically the only differences is that i updated from 2.5.5 to 2.5.8 and that when i plug my external drive in it now comes up as USB 2.0 instead of just USB. I'm not sure if either of this factors play a role in the failed burns but they are the only differences i noticed in the logs
