cyberialman Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 HI All, Need urgent help please. I ran the "Write Image To Disc" in test mode. Now my DVD drive has stopped working. The test run worked. Then when I tried to do a real burn, the burn session failed because laser power was too low (sorry don't have the log file for this failure). Now the DVD drive won't work at all. I've shutdown the computer and restarted, but it wont' work even with a standard music CD. The drive just makes a regular mechanical noise every 3 seconds. With a blank CD-R, eventually Imgburn just says "Device not ready (Medium Not Present)." How do I get my drive working again asap? I'm burning a whole lot of master CDs for a voluntary organisation and we're on a tight timeframe and this is the only computer. Kind regards and thanks for the help! LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 If powering it off and on doesn't work, the drive has probably died. Test mode wouldn't cause that, it's just a co-incidence that it's died. Even the more up-to-date 103D firmware dates back to 2006, so it's had a pretty good run. http://www.firmwarehq.com/NEC/ND-6650A/files.html
