VanSquall90 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Hello there! Was wondering if anyone could help me with this current issue I'm having. Now I followed all of the necessary steps when burning a cuesheet to a CD using a lossless format such as FLAC by installing the necessary direct show filter and checking the cuesheet in Notepad to find any inconsistencies that may give out any errors but I still keeping this error message: "Add Source filter failed! Reason: Cannot play back file. Format not supported. Just wanted to know why I'd stil be getting this message even after I installed the necessary direct show filter. Thanks
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 My guess is the filter isn't installed properly or your files are in a format it can't decode.
VanSquall90 Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Yeah I was thinking the same too. Looks like I had to filters installed for decoding FLAC files, one being K-Lite Codec Pack and the other being MadFlac. I went ahead and unistalled both filters and re-installed K-Lite but now instead of getting the error message above I'm now getting a message saying: AddSourceFilterFailed! Reason: Unspecified error. Wonder what could be causing that happen.
VanSquall90 Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Ok. Re-installed madFLAC again and now gettting the same message as before. Followed the installation instructions in the Readme file and still getting this error. Don't know what could be causing this. I'll copy and paste a copy of the cuesheet to see if you can't spot something I overlooked REM GENRE Electronic REM DATE 2000 REM DISCID 4E120B15 REM COMMENT "ExactAudioCopy v1.0b1" PERFORMER "Various" TITLE "Clubber's Guide to...2000 (CD 1)" FILE "01. LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 It's not the CUE file. Take off K-Lite and just use the recommended madFlac one. Make sure it's installing itself properly as having things like UAC enabled etc can complicate things. Double check there's nothing funny about your Flac file too. Check their details using something like MediaInfo.
VanSquall90 Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Ok just installed MediaInfo and ran one of the files through the program. Everything seems to look fine. If there was anything wrong with file what would the program have picked up? And when I installed madFLAC again I got a message saying that the program had installed correctly. The exact message I received was: The DirectShow filter "I:\Installation Files\madFLAC\madFLAC.ax" was registered successfully.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Can you post the MediaInfo details of one of the Flac files please? Also, which OS are you running?
VanSquall90 Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 Sure and Im currently running Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate. LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I guess at this point I could do with trying the flac file for myself. Can you upload it somewhere, email it or whatever? You may have other filters that are being pulled into the graph and messing things up... it's hard to say without checking everything. All I know is that madFlac normally works just fine. It's what I'm using for such things and I have the same Win 7 SP1 x64 setup. Just one thing though, if you use ImgBurn to create your CUE file using the 'Create CUE' tool, can you screenshot the error box that pops up please when you add a flac file to the source box? The error message you've mentioned in your previous posts doesn't fit with what I seem to recall the OS saying when no suitable filters were installed. You may like to uninstall madflac, capture the error, install it and capture it again. Maybe you could also use something like InstalledCodec to create a report on your codecs. You can create an 'All Items' HTML report using the View menu and let me compare it to mine. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/installed_codec.html
VanSquall90 Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 Ok I think I found out what the problem is. Just copied the files onto another hard drive into a different directory and I'm no longer getting any error messages. So I'm guessing the directory I had the files in before was too long for ImgBurn to read or locate the files. Wonder why that is.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 The error was from the OS (or filter/codec), not ImgBurn. The OS doesn't normally like paths over 256 (ish) characters. It'll usually start using the short names for folders when that starts happening (notice the path and '~' shown in mediainfo's info) but in this situation, I guess that couldn't happen. I could potentially do something in my code to help it along.
VanSquall90 Posted February 19, 2015 Author Posted February 19, 2015 Ahh gotcha and yeah that would be awesome if you could. Thanks once again for all your help in narrowing down the source of my problem. Really appreciate it
