Here's what Imgburn says about a blank Verbatim DVD+R DL that I inserted:

Optiarc DVD RW AD-5280S 1.Z8 (ATA)

Current Profile: DVD+R DL

Disc Information:

Status: Empty

State of Last Session: Empty

Erasable: No

Free Sectors: 4,173,824

Free Space: 8,547,991,552 bytes

Free Time: 927:32:74 (MM:SS:FF)

Why does it say that the blank DVD+R DL has only 8,547,991,552 bytes? I thought I wouldn't need payload tool with Sony Optiarc? When I click the write button, I get a message saying:

There doesn't appear to be enough space on the disc to burn this image.

Image size: 4,267,015 Sectors (8,334 MiB)

Disc size: 4,173,824 Sectors (8,152 MiB)

Would you like me to try sending the BurnerMAX Payload?

Note: Even if successful, there's no guarantee your drive will cope with overburning the disc!

I never got these error messages when I used cheap dual layer DVDs for burning but now Verbatim is giving this error? Why? Should I go ahead with Overburn anyway?

Your drive isn't working properly. It should report the larger size without you doing anything.

Try a few more discs and power cycling the drive. If it still doesn't work, you'll probably have to send it back.

If anything, it should be doing the complete opposite to what you're telling me.

The drives were tested for overburning MKM-001-00 and MKM-003-00 media. Anything else they manage to overburn successfully is a bonus.

If the overburning side of things isn't kicking in with the discs that feature has been verified to work with, something is wrong somewhere.

Well I tried to burn an image onto the disc and got an error at 42%. Took out the second blank disc from the batch and inserted it into the drive.

Guess what, Imgburn now shows the free size it's supposed to show. The image is burning and is at 90% right now with no errors so far. Hopefully it'll be successful.

So I guess the first disc was a faulty one?

Burned Far Cry 3 and Battlefield (Disc 1) successfully so far. Far Cry 3 seems to be working fine. I'll try installing Battlefield Hardline onto my X360 and let you guys know the results.
