how do i create video files that will play on dvd player?

I have so mp4 files that I want to burn onto a disc to watch on my dvd player. I convert the file to a video file in imgburn then use the write image file to disc setting using the newly converted file that I made. The process works fine burning but when I put the disc in both my dvd players I just get an error message saying disc cannot be played. can someone please help me? I have wasted 5 discs so far and I really want to get it on a disc so I can watch it and let my friend borrow it. Thanks

ImgBurn doesn't convert anything, it burns as-is.

 

You'll need another program that can output a DVD video folder structure for you.
