Well, my obvious question is: you say you're using a cheap media, but have you tried using a quality Verbatim DataLife Plus series MKM DVD+R DL?  :D

Posted

Nope, but i read in many sites that verbatim discs are highly recommanded, but i couldn't find them.

i had this error before but it vanished when i closed all applications and set priority to high for imgburn in task manager,

(but i forgot to close 3 apps in the last burn)

so i think 2 reasons are causing this problem:

1-cheap discs

2-apps in background

so what do you think?    (thanks in advance, and sorry for bad english) :D

Yeah, you won't find the good quality Verbatim DVD+R DL in a brick and mortar store.  What you will find in a physical store is the cheap CMC media Verbatim also farms out.  You'll have to look online for DataLife Plus.

As for your follow up, so, you say you closed all background applications and set ImgBurn's priority to high and the problem went away?  Next, I'd try closing all background applications but leaving ImgBurn's priority to its default and try the burn again.  That way you can narrow it down to it being a background application causing the problem.  If it only works when you set the priority to high, I couldn't tell you why it works that way and doesn't work the other way.

It's most likely a background application, though.  I'd start with your anti-virus/anti-malware software.  Try disabling only it/them and retry another burn

As I said, be sure you look for DataLife Plus.  Any other Verbatim DVD+R DL and you run the risk of it not being quality MKM media.

It's a good idea to switch anyway.  Cheap media may burn and verify but after a year or so, it probably won't be readable.  I've yet to have a Verbatim MKM DVD+R DL fail to read after burning after about 6 years of using them.

Now, I will say I had good results with TDK DVD+R DL media.  They were all still readable after 5 years.  Of course, I also came across a CMC DVD+R DL that I somehow let slip past that was still readable after 5 years!  :o  And then I had some Ritek Office Depot DVD+R DL that were 50% not readable after 5 years, despite 10 years of using their DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, CD-R, and CD-RW without any failures to read years later.

Anyway, the take away from this is we always recommend Verbatim MKM DVD+R DL media.  They're the best.  The majority of people who report DVD+R DL burning problems find their issues go away when they switch from cheap media to Verbatim MKM.

However, I am concerned that you said you had gotten it to work before in the past by disabling background application.  That indicates to me the issue isn't media and that even if you switched to Verbatim MKM media, you'd still encounter the problem.  But, I'd still recommend switching just for the sake of longevity.

yes i gotten it to work on truncate method

BUT NOW im using burnerMAX to get 8.7gb space on the disc

is it the same?

Sorry, I've never used BurnerMAX.  Couldn't tell you.  I think it has something to do with overburning, but I'm not sure.  And that I think it has something to do with XBox copies.  I've never owned an XBox product so I can't help.

In fact, my only experience with overburning discs has been never to do it.  :)  I've only gotten it to work once, on an audio CD.  Every other time I tried to do it, it failed.
