provobis Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I'm one of those that won't let go of XP (take that M$oft), even though I've tried win 10 and it works with most if not all my apps and programs. I have 3 puters, two with win 10 and one on which I recently reinstalled XP pro, after which I proceeded to reinstall all my old apps and other stuff. When I tried to reinstall imgburn it downloaded where I directed it (with firefox and on desktop) and tried to run it but it then literally vanished. Thinking the download detected old versions or bad remnants of imgburn... consequently deleting my dowload...I searched for every speck of img burn I could find on the XP pro HDD using revo uninstaller as well as search and delete and I tried again several times with the same result....the download vanishes from the desktop and can't be found anywhere else. So I tried downloading an older imgburn version and that worked, whereby I was able to reinstall the imgburn version before the current and latest one. However it bugs me (pun intended) that XP doesn't like the latest imgburn or new version imgburn doesn't like XP anymore. Furthermore I can't use the best and latest imgburn on XP now unless someone has a solution to this weird condition. Any suggestions?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 This isn't XP related, it's down to your AV software not liking the OpenCandy plugin used by the latest installer and just deleting the file. Get your software to prompt you before taking action and tell it not to. Or add an exception / pause it for a few minutes whilst you go about your business.

Sorry, don't understand what you mean by "AV software", (audio/video?) or anti virus.....unless you mean anti virus & firewall which I turned off in order to try again. Same result! Furthermore I am able to download and install "latest" imgburn on win10 puters (which use all same software as XP), so does it not seem that it is related to XP? What AV software in particular? Thanks for your input. ' Edited November 4, 2015 by provobis

I'm updating my reply about "A/V" software....it is anti virus that caused the problem, and I assumed that turning AV off would be sufficient when it's not, because the AV rejection setting is still there after initial detection even with AV turned off. So I went into the AV settings and reversed that setting. Downloaded imgburn (newest version on XP without issue. Thanks! PS For your info I use Comodo Internet Security which at times seems pretty severe, but otherwise I like it above the so called conventional AV security. Edited November 4, 2015 by provobis
