datincan Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Hi, I have what I believe is an LG drive (HL-DT-ST DVDRW GA32N) in a mid 2010 mini mac. I'm running windows through VMware Fusion. Imgburn sees the drive and I can burn to it. I need to change the Book Type, on the "Change book Type" screen under the "LG" tab, the current setting reads as "Unknown (FAILED)". This is like it does not recognise the drive as LG but it is LG. I guess it has something to do with the drive path having the VMware driver prefixing the drive name as seen by imgburn? "NECVMwareSATA CD01 (E:) . Is there any work around I could do to change the book type on a DVD R+ ? Many Thanks.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Chances are, the VMware driver isn't passing through the command. They need to allow unfiltered access to drive but many only pass through commands they understand... Not 'vendor unique' ones used for stuff like changing the book type settings. ImgBurn doesn't care that the name has been changed. If you're on the lg tab, it'll be sending lg commands.
