Blitzkrieg469 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I have a thunb drive formatted to install window 7. I want to create another one but can't find my original ISO file for it. Is there a way to use IMGBurn to copy the contents of my USB drive to a folder on my computer for later use, or directly to anothe USB drive? Thanks
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Nope, you can use Explorer to copy from the stick to a folder though.
dbminter Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Try something called USB Image Tool. It will make images of USB flash drives to an image file and allow you to write them to other flash drives. This is probably what you'll need since the flash drive is most likely bootable.
Blitzkrieg469 Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 (edited) yes, my flash drive is bootable, and simply copying the files doesn't work. I tried USB Image tool but ir says bootfile is corrupt even tho I have no issues when using it to do an install Edited January 31, 2016 by Blitzkrieg469
dbminter Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 No idea. I've never had a problem with it. Of course, I've never used it for a Windows 7 bootable flash drive. Just Windows 8 and 10. Windows 7 may be older than USB Image Tool and it can't handle its bootimage.
ianymaty Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 If the USB works on any install it seams that all the files needed are there. You can make anytime another USB drive bootable with various tools (WinToolkit, Rufus, YUMI to name a few) and copy all the contents from the old to the new USB drive. Also you can use ImgBurn to create a bootable ISO from the contents of the USB following the guide http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?/topic/11194-how-to-create-a-windows-vista-7-8-installation-disc-bootable-using-imgburn/
