burnitgood Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Hi, I've been having problems burning to bluray Dual layer rewritable discs. My burner is an "LG HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH14NS40" The bluray disc is "Verbatim BD-RE DL for video 50GB 2x I just updated my firmware to the current version 1.03 to try and fix the problem but still have the error. It completes the burning but when verifying, the I/O error pops up at 51-52% complete. Looks like the error starts at the first sector of the second layer of the blu ray disk. I've had no issues with burning a single layer BD-R 25GB Any Ideas? thanks Here is the log: I 20:29:05 ImgBurn Version 2.5.8.0 started!I 20:29:05 Microsoft Windows 8 Core x64 Edition (6.2, Build 9200)I 20:29:05 Total Physical Memory: 16,664,640 KiB - Available: 14,595,148 KiBI 20:29:05 Initialising SPTI...I 20:29:05 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...I 20:29:05 -> Drive 1 - Info: HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH14NS40 1.03-A0 (D:) (SATA)I 20:29:05 Found 1 BD-RE XL! LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Pretty much the only things you could try are enabling the 'Perform OPC Before Write' option in the Settings and just fully formatting the disc a few more times. Maybe it'll sort itself out. After that, it's a case of trying different discs or a different drive.
burnitgood Posted July 4, 2016 Author Posted July 4, 2016 I just tried perform OPC ...still no luck. I'll try a new disc and full erase it a few times and see what happens. I can confirm though...using the same disc...if I burn the 50GB dual layer disc with only 25GBcovering one layer, it works fine.
burnitgood Posted July 5, 2016 Author Posted July 5, 2016 (edited) Success. When I turn off these 3 write options (in the image attached), the BD-RE DL burns and verifies successfully on both layers. This was done right after a failed burn without erasing the disc. Not sure if all 3 need to be unchecked, but it worked. and here's the log: I 05:48:49 Operation Started!I 05:48:49 Building Image Tree...I 05:48:49 Checking Directory Depth...I 05:48:49 Calculating Totals...I 05:48:49 Preparing Image...I 05:48:50 Checking Path Length...W 05:48:52 Data type changed to 'MODE1/2048' due to current media.I 05:48:52 Contents: 175 Files, 35 FoldersI 05:48:52 Content Type: DataI 05:48:52 Data Type: MODE1/2048I 05:48:52 File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)I 05:48:52 Volume Label: SHOWSAI 05:48:52 Size: 42,886,366,780 bytesI 05:48:52 Sectors: 20,940,710I 05:48:52 Image Size: 42,887,741,440 bytesI 05:48:52 Image Sectors: 20,941,280I 05:48:53 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:00:04I 05:48:53 Operation Started!I 05:48:53 Source File: -==/\/[bUILD IMAGE]\/\==-I 05:48:53 Source File Sectors: 20,941,280 (MODE1/2048)I 05:48:53 Source File Size: 42,887,741,440 bytesI 05:48:53 Source File Volume Identifier: SHOWSAI 05:48:53 Source File Volume Set Identifier: 48E52E18013F89CAI 05:48:53 Source File Application Identifier: IMGBURN V2.5.8.0 - THE ULTIMATE IMAGE BURNER!I 05:48:53 Source File Implementation Identifier: ImgBurnI 05:48:53 Source File File System(s): ISO9660, UDF (1.02)I 05:48:53 Destination Device: [0:0:0] HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH14NS40 1.03 (D:) (SATA)I 05:48:53 Destination Media Type: BD-RE (Disc ID: VERBAT-IM1-000)I 05:48:53 Destination Media Supported Write Speeds: 2xI 05:48:53 Destination Media Sectors: 24,438,784I 05:48:53 Write Mode: BDI 05:48:53 Write Type: DAOI 05:48:53 Write Speed: 2xI 05:48:53 Hardware Defect Management Active: NoI 05:48:53 BD-RE FastWrite: NoI 05:48:53 Link Size: AutoI 05:48:53 Lock Volume: YesI 05:48:53 Test Mode: NoI 05:48:53 OPC: YesI 05:48:53 BURN-Proof: EnabledI 05:48:54 Write Speed Successfully Set! - Effective: 8,992 KB/s (2x)I 05:49:07 Filling Buffer... burnitgood Posted July 6, 2016 Author Posted July 6, 2016 The 3 options unchecked in the write settings were: Prefer format with full certification Prefer format without spare areas Prefer properly formatted discs
LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 They only do anything if you actually do a full erase on the disc. I think you just got lucky with that one.
burnitgood Posted July 6, 2016 Author Posted July 6, 2016 you're right, I just got lucky. I can't replicate the successful burn.
