krow7 Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Hey guys! I just bought burner TSSTcorp CDDVDW SE-208DB MF00 (USB) for burning XGD3 games. I needed external drive cus I have a laptop. Okay, I tried to burn Gears of War 3 using BurnerMax Payload Tool. Here's an output after patching: BurnerMAX Payload Tool - Version: 0.15 Found 3 CD/DVD drives E: F: G: DVD DL +R detected BurnerMAX not enabled, YET ! BurnerMAX not enabled, YET ! Then I grab my disc and put it into my Xbox360. After about 30 seconds of "thinking" it just stops and lets me open drive. I tried to put disc in several times but it just spins and stops or shows error that my disc wasn't recognized or something. I put it again in my new burner and ImgBurn says that it's empty! (huh?) LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 You should verify your burns. It'll pick up on issues like this. Don't think that just because a drive appears to support the burnermax commands, that it'll actually be able to produce a working 'over burnt' disc. It's pretty much just liteon drives that can do it - and a specific optiarc model designed for it.
krow7 Posted August 5, 2016 Author Posted August 5, 2016 Thanks for the reply but I really don't get it how disc is empty. I can understand if some data from the tail wouldn't burn on disc cuz of not properly working 'overburning' but here I have a disc which looks empty. After writing this disc I tried another (not Verbatim) and it burnt well Under 'Verify' you mean verify function in ImgBurn after burning, right?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 I just meant the 'Verify' checkbox that's enabled by default (meaning you've disabled it) in the 'Destination' box in Write mode. The disc appearing empty is totally down to the drive. It's messed something up, either in writing the disc or in reading it, and is therefore still appearing empty. ImgBurn simply reports what the drive tells it.
krow7 Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 I did verify after burning and it failed with L-EC Uncorrectable Error on 49% I guess you're right and my drive doesn't support writing xgd3 images although burner max payload tool works fine with it Is there any external burner which could do this thing? Or another solution in a laptop case?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 The LiteOn iHAS models can do it. I think the 'iHAS124 F' and 'iHAS324 F' are probably the only 2 still around as 'new' drives. Optiarc / Vinpower's special 5280S-CB-Plus model is also designed for overburning, but they might be harder to find, depending on where you live. All of them work best with Verbatim MKM-003-00 media. You can buy enclosures for 'normal' sized optical drives that'll let you just plug them into your laptop via USB as you've been doing with your slimline one.
krow7 Posted August 7, 2016 Author Posted August 7, 2016 Great thanks for fast and full explanation! I'll try to find something you advised in my place.
