GB-92 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I'm trying to create a CUE to make an audio CD Out of 18 files, which are all MP3 files, two of them cause an error when I load them in. "Potential DirectShow Error! - No data has been received for 10 seconds.Decoding Progress: 0 bytes" The log pretty much says the exact same thing. What's happening here? The files aren't corrupt or anything. I can play them just fine, and I was previously able to write them to an audio CD with Windows Media Player.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 It's probably due to the filters being used in your directshow graph. Right click one of the problem ones in the 'create cue file' window and have the program display the directshow filter info for it. Copy and paste that in your reply please.
GB-92 Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 It says this for both: 1 -> Source (Vendor Info: Unknown)2 -> MPEG-I Stream Splitter (Vendor Info: Unknown)3 -> MP3 Decoder DMO (Vendor Info: Unknown)4 -> NPVR AAC Ecoder (Vendor Info: Unknown)5 -> Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder (Vendor Info: Unknown)6 -> ACM Wrapper (Vendor Info: Unknown)7 -> Sample Grabber (Vendor Info: Unknown)8 -> Null Renderer (Vendor Info: Unknown)
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 And how does that compare to the ones that work? If they're different, there must be a reason for it - maybe stereo / mono or the wrong sample rate.
GB-92 Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 Huh... Most of them say the following: 1 -> Source (Vendor Info: Unknown)2 -> MPEG-I Stream Splitter (Vendor Info: Unknown)3 -> MP3 DEcoder DMO (Vendor Info: Unknown)4 -> Sample Grabber (Vendor Info: Unknown)5 -> Null Renderer (Vendor Info: Unknown) But some of them, nothing happens at all when I right-click and click on 'Display DirectShow'.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 You can use a program called mediainfo to find out details about the files. If no directshow info is being displayed, it's probably because it was unable to build a graph for it and the file is perhaps being decoded via ACM instead. My guess is that the 4. Filter in your original list is what's causing the issue and not behaving properly (it's buggy). Again, it comes down to the format (not just MP3 but other details) of the original files as to which filters directshow pulls in to build the graph.
GB-92 Posted January 28, 2017 Author Posted January 28, 2017 So, should I get the AAC codec from here? http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?/topic/5555-how-to-write-an-audio-cd-from-music-files-using-imgburn/
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 You shouldn't even need anything aac related if you're just decoding MP3! There's something 'off' about the few that don't work and the only way your system can decode them is to pull in that aac filter. Disable it and maybe directshow would outright fail (as is happening on a few others) and then the fallback acm will come into play. Hopefully that'll work properly on them.
GB-92 Posted January 28, 2017 Author Posted January 28, 2017 I don't understand. Disable what? And how do I do it?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Disable the npvr (NextPVR) directshow aac encoder filter. You can use this tool for it I expect. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/installed_codec.html I assume it was installed when you installed a codec pack or something.
GB-92 Posted January 28, 2017 Author Posted January 28, 2017 I don't see NPVR or NextPVR anywhere on the list showed by that program. The only thing I have installed is ImgBurn. This is only the second CD I've tried to make.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Try this one instead then. http://www.softella.com/dsfm/index.en.htm
GB-92 Posted January 28, 2017 Author Posted January 28, 2017 Okay, The codec showed up on this program. I was also able to see that it is a part of my Hauppauge, which is a device I use for recording A/V and HDMI streams from video games. However, the program didn't work right and I couldn't disable the codec. It just said failed over and over again.
dbminter Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 What I do with situations like this where certain MP3's don't import is I convert them to some other kind of format like FLAC and try again. Freemake makes a freeware audio converter that I use. However, you'll want to turn off your Internet connection before running the full installer, not the online installer. The installer will want to phone home and force other software on you you most likely would never want. Just turn your Internet connection back on after its installed.
GB-92 Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 Ultimately, I have decided to go with a different disc burner that actually works. Thank you for your help. Goodbye.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 In your case, that's probably a good idea. ImgBurn relies heavily on using what's already in place for decoding audio to the correct format. Another burner that has its own decoders will suit you better.
