ImgBurn Device Buffer Fluctuates With Blu-Ray Burner

Just got in a new ASUS BW-12D1S-U Lite blu-ray burner.

Using it with ImgBurn and I notice that the device buffer keeps fluctuating. Restarted my computer. Same issue. Trying to burn discs at 8x which is it's max. Any reason why it's doing this?

For what it's worth, I haven't tried the discs yet in my blu-ray player and I haven't gotten any errors with ImgBurn. It's just the device buffer fluctuating.

Also tried with a Verbatim BD-R DL disc and it gave me this:

"W 00:37:32 Failed to Write Sectors 8658592 - 8658623 - Reason: The semaphore timeout period has expired."

But after the first retry, it seemed to burn fine. Verifying the disc now.

You aren't reaching max speed there, so I have to wonder what the buffer level was like during the burn? (The software buffer, not the device one)

Ignoring what ImgBurn says in the log about the drive running at USB 2.0 speeds, can you just double check it really is working at USB 3.0 and that windows doesn't say it 'could run faster' when you plug it in. If it's only running are USB 2.0 speeds, that may well be the issue here. Make it burn at 4x instead as 6x seems too much for your machine to handle.

If it's running at USB 3.0 speeds, I don't really understand the reason for the write speed fluctuating so much when burning the first layer, but looking fine a little while after it. Were you using your machine quite heavily during the first half of the burn?

I don't have USB 3.0. Just 2.0
