I bought a "new" Lite-On drive recently only to find out it was not manufactured for retail sales and came out of an HP computer. Lite-On does not have a firmware update for it. I tried entering it in your Advanced setting for OEM equipment.  When I tried to enable Lite-On features through this cool feature, I got an error message under Current Setting: Unknown (FAILED!)  Reason: Invalid Field in CDB.  I used the exact drive description: hp BD E DH12E3LH EHDC (and tried variations), but got the same error for all the added Lite-On enhancements.  Couldn't find anything in the Search for your Forums.  What is the error trying to tell me?  Thanks for anyone's help.  Since this drive reads but not writes blu rays, I was using a DVD blank, a good one (Taiyo Yuden).

Secondly, I'm really trying to get this drive to read blu rays for the scan program Optical Drive Control, so I can find optimum burns on a new Pioneer drive I am now using to burn blanks with and some new Digistor media that is supposed to be better quality for half the price than the Verbatims I've been using. I have just learned about ImgBurn.  Experts in this area say it is the best burning software. Your features are awesome.  Since I am finding it impossible to get a firmware update for this OEM Lite-On drive, despite lots of help, I am hoping this Advanced feature will help.  So far, the drive won't read blu-ray discs, except a couple of times (don't know why), so I am hoping these Lite-On enhanced features might help.  I'm told ODC works scanning blu rays only on Lite-Ons or Samsungs, due to the Chipsets.  This is way over my head.  Thanks  for any help.  I'm running out of ideas.

The advanced features are just part of a real LiteOn drive's firmware. If the firmware on your drive doesn't support them, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

Ignoring that, none of them area anything to do with reading a disc and so won't help you with your problem anyway.

If there's no way to crossflash it to a proper LiteOn firmware (check the myce forums for that), you'd be better off returning it and buying another drive.
