amarone88 Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Hello everybody, i'm stuck! I have an Asus notebook bought in 2012, still performing, so I don't want to change it. At the first boot, i created the restore dvd images, they are 5 .iso files, the first one is bootable. Plz see attached images. Last week the OS stopped working, the solution would be easy if only the dvd drive had not stopped too! What I now need is a way to build a single bootable .iso from the five dvd images, to mount it on a hard disk and let the OS restart from scratch by itself. I tried many ways with ImgBurn but I could'nt do what I want, yet I'm sure that the program can do it and it's only my inability. Can anybody guide me through the process? Thank you all Iacopo
Ch3vr0n Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Just burn the iso's each to their own disc. Label them 1/5. Boot from disc 1, all done. There's 5 iso's for a reason obviously or Asus wouldn't have done if that way. Sent from my Nexus 6P with Tapatalk
amarone88 Posted July 18, 2017 Author Posted July 18, 2017 There is a reason for my post too, and it's written in it: the notebook's drive doesn't work ("the solution would be easy if only the dvd drive had not stopped too!"), or I could have way less troubles. The question is clear, please answer that question if you can. Thank you
Ch3vr0n Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 You can't merge iso's like that. Period. I'd say what you can try is to use something like 'rufus' and make bootable USB drives with them or spend $20 and replace the laptop drive, or get an external burner. Make your choice. LIGHTNING UK! Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 There's nothing stopping you from extracting all the ISO files to the same directory and then building a new ISO from scratch. It doesn't look like the main file will overwrite itself as 'asusrdvd' looks to be named sequentially (img, 001, 002 etc.) I assume there's something in the Boot folder you can use to make it bootable. I have no way of knowing what's in the 'burnengi.txt' file though. If they're identical for each disc, that's fine. If they aren't and the installer checks for different ones, it might not work.
amarone88 Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 Uh thank you Admin, that's what I last tried and there is definitely a file to make the ISO bootable, but i do some mistake because when I try to write it on the hard disk with Rufus, he tells me the stuff is not bootable. burnengi.txt files are identical, they only contain the text "MS IMAPI2", therefore I tried to do what you say. I will try again and if I fail I'll post here all the procedure I followed. Thanks!
