huynh hoang Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 I had a BD job that was like 250 MB less than the maximum 25 GB size. I tried burning it to BD-RE but ImgBurn asked if I wanted to Overburn it. It burned to BD-R fine. So, I'm guessing that a BD-RE's maximum available space is slightly smaller than a BD-R? What is the maximum size then for a BD-RE? Thanks
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Assuming the BD-RE is formatted without spare areas (normally these would enable the drive's 'defect management' feature), they should both have 12219392 sectors available for writing to.
dbminter Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Yeah, my experience has been they're both the same size, and I think they were designed to be that way. I never formatted with spare areas, so I never noticed a difference between BD-R and BD-RE.
