well I went and Bought Plextor PX-755SA yesterday just because I was pissed at my PX-716 drive

and guess what it burned those TY media w/out a problem

So I guess PX716 does not like TY media. so I'll stick w/Verbatim on that drive

you could have wrote that shorter by saying Faulty

 

Or a duff batch of ty disc's that your 1st plex hates.

 

Only you will know in time if you buy some more ty .

Sounds like the PX-716 was faulty to me Sorry I came in on the end of this and only read the last few posts !!

yes I'll try to experiment more w/TY maybe buy different TY media like DVD-R instead of + and buy some Verbtim just to check what 716 likes this time

All the guff about poor media is wrong I had the problem using RITEK discs in both my ND-2500 and ND-2510's (using ritek discs i previously had no problem with!)

I have flashed the latest firmware to both drives and both are now working fine!

(although I have to agree that better quality discs are preferable anyway and pretty cheap if you buy from SVP)

buy GENUINE Taiyo Yuden brand , not fuji or pansonic with taiyo yuden dye

in the -R your looking for TYG02 or TYG03 as the media ID , TYG02 is the 8x and TYG03 the 16x as per my signature below

I solved my probelm w/replaceing the plextor 716 w/plextor 755 and media burn find no coster or anything

I sent my plextor 716 for warranty issues to plextor since I only had this drive for 11 month getting the drive back this Saturday will burn w/the new one and see whats up maybe 716 didnt like that TYs I dont know

 

TY media I bought are from rima.com

TY00002 or something like that media code I am lazy too look in my prevous posts
