toddgiffen Posted March 5, 2018 Author Posted March 5, 2018 here's what Peter at ISOBuster had to say, he thinks there could be something wrong with his extraction of session 2- Hi Todd, IsoBuster produces single file ISO/BIN files and no sectors are omitted. In other words all sectors (beit 0 data or read) of the gap between the two sessions is present in the image as well. Based on this, IsoBuster is able to find the data in session 2 If you extract just session 2, the gap data between session 1 and session 2 is not present in that image, and I'm sure this accounts for the offset you notice. I'll look into this as well later this week.To see if I can make an exception when this type of file layout is used. Problem is, this is ancient code and filled with exceptions and what not that I can't verify because i don't have the images etc. to test. I'm afraid to make too many changes for these few exceptions. Ideally I would rewrite this part from scratch but it's so hardly used out there that it doesn't make sense to put in the time. I have been looking into this today but made hardly any progress because of the complexity.I'll keep you informed when I have something to test If you're on Facebook, please like IsoBuster's page:www.facebook.com/isobuster and / or: www.facebook.com/dvdvob2mpg Follow us on Google+https://plus.google.com/b/112704570851545369916/+isobuster/posts Best Regards,Peter
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 The way to stop the 'the drive probably offset the audio samples' message from coming up in the log is to enable the 'Ignore CD-DA Data' option in the Settings on the Verify tab. It's enabled by default, so you must have disabled it. (EDIT: I see now that it continues to log that specific entry even after it's stopped logging miscompares due to there being too many - I've just fixed that) In the past (EDIT: and still true today with that Plextor), LiteOn (Mediatek chipset) drives have had an opposite write offset to read offset, therefore cancelling each other out and enabling pretty decent audio backups to be made with any software... and you can make copies of copies without an issue (the samples aren't offset more and more with each copy of a copy). In order for that to work, you need to be reading the disc in the LiteOn without any read offset applied (as would be the case if the disc is read in ImgBurn) and then burn the image without any write offset applied (as would be the case if burnt in ImgBurn). If you do it like that, you can disable the 'Ignore CD-DA Data' option so it actually checks for miscompares within those CDDA sectors (otherwise it just checks they're physically readable). toddgiffen Posted March 5, 2018 Author Posted March 5, 2018 (edited) what do you make of my special EAC WAV+ISOBUSTER BIN + CUE issue? problem is: I was getting ready to burn a CD-R to test if it worked good to extract session 2 with ISOBuster to backup the data portion and combine with my EAC rip. before I did so. realized there was a verify option. I wanted to check the audio and and data. that's where I ran into cd-da tracks issue. but the main issue was it said it miscompared the entire session 2.. so I decided not to waste a CD-R and assume ISOBuster isn t extracting session 2 right. is that your opinion as well? why would it miscompare?. see my post at Posted Yesterday, 08:01 PM with logs. I am definitely getting better drives but interesting to test this all out. Edited March 5, 2018 by toddgiffen
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 I'm not really sure what to say about that. I believe you're just doing what I've attempted below, and it worked ok for me. I even reverted to the public 2.5.8.0 so we're on a level playing field. I took the WAV created by EAC, the BIN created by IsoBuster and then made a CUE using ImgBurn's 'Create CUE File' feature in the Tools menu. Admittedly, I had to fix a little bug first that prevented it from being able to parse the bin file properly and actually save the CUE. (Yes, I realise I've lost the actual track info and just treated the WAV as one long track ) CUE File REM SESSION 01 FILE "Wheatus - Wheatus.wav" WAVE REM FILE-DECODED-SIZE 33:13:28 TRACK 01 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 REM LEAD-OUT 33:13:28 REM SESSION 02 FILE "Track 11.bin" BINARY TRACK 02 MODE2/2352 INDEX 01 00:00:00 Write I 14:37:02 Operation Started! toddgiffen Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 (edited) yes to see the problem - compare the burned disc to the original. or simply verify the image rather than burn. it will burn no doubt but will it verify without differences in session 2? yes of course it verifies against the image.. Edited March 6, 2018 by toddgiffen
LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I'm sorry, I don't see your point. If 'of course' it verifies against the image file, surely it's correct? Unless your source image is wrong... but that's another problem. Assuming Session 2 is in the correct place (LBA wise - easy to check by looking at the disc/track information), there should be no problem and you should not be getting miscompares in the data track. Here I've read the original disc to a BIN/CUE and then verified said image against the original disc. Read I 09:24:14 Operation Started! toddgiffen Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 (edited) this is weird. try starting like this: 1. create EAC wav/cue (whole disc to one file). from original audio cd. 2. extract session 2 using BIN from original audio cd. 3. modify EAC cue to include session 2 bin. 4. imgburn verify against original CD. mine generates a billion miscompares. I also did.. 1. above then burned from resulting wav/bin/cue. 2. verified image against disc generating 10000+ errors. but disc looks ok in sector view at LBA it says miscompare as far as I can tell with my human eye.. yours come up 100% no miscompares on session 2 track 1? LIGHTNING UK! Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 You've definitely extracted the track in RAW format yeah? I haven't messed with any options in my installation of IsoBuster (v4.1 pro). I extract the track by right clicking it and selecting as per the picture below... It doesn't look like my track is being extracted properly either, but it's not failing at the same offset yours is. So, I also get miscompares when using the IsoBuster extracted track, but in a different part of the sector. (Both of us are getting miscompares in the non-user data parts though, so it's not a massive deal) Verifying original disc against EAC+IsoBuster CUE/WAV/BIN.... (EDIT: 5 reads, 4 unique bin files, 3 were wrong) I've read the disc multiple times in ImgBurn, extracted the data track in the hex editor and it's the same every time. Go figure! Peter/IsoBuster and I are using the same command for reading the sectors, so there's no reason for it to behave differently. Must just be another drive thing.
toddgiffen Posted March 7, 2018 Author Posted March 7, 2018 (edited) I use extract session 2 (contents) - RAW BIN/ISO. peter's working on some changes he's releasing in an update soon. . I am beta testing it and he wants me to re-do all my tests.. so eventually ISOBuster should produce more accurate audio rips, and maybe this issue with the data file gets fixed. IDK. the myth of the bit perfect rips from CDs.. Edited March 7, 2018 by toddgiffen
