Hi all

I have been using ImgBurn to copy and add text to my CDs which I then load back into the CD player (Pioneer PD-F1007; holds 301 CDs). The player supports CD Text all right but on certain discs I create the .bin and .cue files, edit the .cue file to add the text, put it in the machine, and...nothing. The player can't read the text. It sees it OK on other CDs. I have made several attempts - no dice. This is not random CDs, it's two or three specific ones where it never works.

I have noticed in one case at least there is a .cdt file knocking around. Would deleting that help? Suggestions welcomed.

The .CDT file is a straight/raw copy (dump) of CD-TEXT as it was on the original disc. Using it is the best way to reproduce what's meant to be there, so no, don't delete it :) (*unless the original is also unsupported and then you could replace it with text that actually works)

Can your player read the CD-TEXT ok on the original but not the copy? If it can't read either, I'd say it's because it contains something your player doesn't support.

Do the non working ones have anything in common? Number of tracks, certain characters in the performer / track names etc?

Thanks Lightning - I tried again and this time it worked. I don't know why. Another problem has come up with another disc which is that the copied CD I've burnt doesn't seem able to see the title. It displays the first track as the performer. Maybe I'll have another go at that one.

The CUE Sheet eighter holds CD-Text data straight inside itself in form of CUE sheet commands (TITLE, PERFORMER, SONGWRITER), or in a .cdt file in form of text-encoded binary data (specification for CD-Text *.cdt format can be found online, free and open-source). Nothing between. If there is a *.cdt file linked in a CUE sheet, it will be used instead of inner CD-Text formed by CUE sheet commands. Make sure that there is no *.cdt file linked in the CUE sheet if you want to insert data into the CUE sheet itself.
