Jude law Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Good morning. I 'm trying to save a copy of my hard disk on cd. This hard disk contains the "my documents" "my pictures" etc directories (I'm using windows7). When I calculate the size in imgburn, I get about a hundred modified file and folder names in the log. I don't like it very much, but what can I do ? But one thing I don't understand is that I also have "Skipped Reparse Point Folder" entries. I don't understand what these mean.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Post the log please so we can see what we’re dealing with.

Jude law Posted April 4, 2019 Author Posted April 4, 2019 My OS isn't on the same disk as the my documents folder.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Ok so you’ve got 80gb of stuff there.... I guess you didn’t actually mean cd when you said it because it’ll never fit!A reparse point is a virtual link to somewhere else - as in, not a real folder. They’re possibly linked to another folder that’s already being included and you don’t want the data duplicated or the image will get even bigger. Might you not be better off using a real hdd backup tool like Acronis True Image or similar?
Jude law Posted April 4, 2019 Author Posted April 4, 2019 Oh god, sorry I've must have been asleep, yes it's a 100GB blu-ray of course, not a cd.
Jude law Posted April 4, 2019 Author Posted April 4, 2019 Maybe, I would have to find out how these backup tools work. I'm not sure their developers answer every question on a dedicated forum though
Jude law Posted April 4, 2019 Author Posted April 4, 2019 I just want to make sure I save everything that is currently located on that hard disk. I am a bit afraid about images. What if they end up corrupted ? Wouldn't the whole image be corrupted like a .rar file would ?
LIGHTNING UK! Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 You could always create a set of par2 recovery files for the image - so you can recover it if that should happen.
