I saw this error on the forum but mine is a bit different I think.

Trying to burn a blu ray disc wih my external samsung SE-506 burner.

I use the verbatim datalife BD-R discs. I used this spindle before without issues.

I updated today my burner firmware. Makes no difference.

I also burned a blu ray without an error (2 times) but the disc is not recognized in my blu ray player. I have 2 standalone blu ray players  + in a Playstation 4 it also not worked.

The strange is if I burn the files like a data blu ray it worked in my blu ray player. But I want a normal blu ray because I made a menu.

So is my blu ray burner the issue?

Post the log of the failed burn.  Open Help and choose ImgBurn Log.  Open the log, find the failed burn, and copy and paste the entire write and if it made that far verify phases of the failed burn.

The error message is basically saying that the sector on the disc is unreadable.

That problem is unlikely to be the reason for your players not being able to play the disc. I would say they don't like something about the way it's been authored - maybe that comes down to tmpgenc?

Also, when you say you change to a data Blu-Ray, it works.  What exactly do you mean?  BD Video discs are data discs and don't generally require changes to format types from the default to be playable.

about the data blu ray: when it failed with imgburn I thought it was maybe imgburn caused the problem. So I tried another free burning program where I could choose blu ray video and data blu ray. The blu ray video was also disc error on my standalone blu ray player (s) but the data blu ray played.

When inserting this There is not automatically a menu to choose which video chapter you want to play (like a normal dvd movie) . There were folders and I had to go the BDMV folder  -> STREAM -> and click the M2TS file to start the video. There a 3x M2TS files. 2 are the menu (page 1 and 2) and the other is the video file.

Normally when you insert a DVD or a blu ray move it starts the menu chapter.

Just as I thought.  It's most likely junk media.  Here's your problem:

I 14:25:38 Destination Media Type: BD-R (Disc ID: CMCMAG-BA5-000)

You may be using Verbatim BD-R but this is the 2nd time I've seen foreign, e.g. outside of the US, Verbatim BD-R that is so called DataLife Plus that is not DataLife Plus but CMC garbage.  In the US, there is no such thing as DataLife Plus Verbatim BD-R.  It's all just BD-R and none of it is CMC.  It appears outside of the US, Verbatim is trying to screw over their customers.

The only solution is try something else, like Panasonic BD-R, if they make it.  TDK may make BD-R and if they do it may be good, but TDK does make BD-RE that is CMC junk.  You could always try importing Verbatim BD-R from the US.  The other person I saw with this problem on the board imported the good stuff from the US to solve their problem.

Oh, IC what you're saying about the data Blu-Ray.  It's not a Blu-Ray Video you're playing.  You're playing the folder contents via your player's browser.  This won't present you with a menu like a Blu-Ray Video disc will.  It seems this TMpegEnc software is not generating compliant BD Video content.  This is inferring that TMpegEnc even creates a menu for its BD Video content.  It may just start playing with the first chapter.  I don't create BD Video so I can't say what to do at this point.  Of course, why it doesn't start playing when you have the disc inserted as a BD Video, I couldn't say.

I had 1 empty blu ray disc from mediarange to test. mediacode PHILIP R04

Imgburn burn it without problems but again my standalone players didn't play it.

In the past I used these mediarange and the verbatim datalife without a problem from the same spindle.

So I think my burner is the problem. I just ordered the verbatim blu ray burner. I hope this will fix the problem. Will update here.

Such issues are rarely hardware related.  Generally swapping in all new hardware won't fix such a problem.  The problem is most likely software based.  The software that made your content probably isn't making it right.

found the problem! It was a software problem. I made a new blu ray image from my film project with authoring works and now it played on my standalone player.

Burnt it with the new and older disc burner and the verbatim datalife discs. Both worked now. Never had this issue before.

Thanks for your help!

So, TMpegEnc was making the ISO itself?  And you were using ImgBurn to burn the ISO?  Instead of using Build mode to import a BDMV or whatever it's called folder?  Then, if that's the case, TMpegEnc wasn't making correct ISO settings for BD Video.

Yes, tmpgenc can make the iso. In this case it made the BDMV folder. Strange is I made also a dvd iso from that same blu ray project with downconversion. With this method I don't have to make a new menu. Maybe my bitrate voor blu ray was set too high.
