Of course they didnt work, so I found this forum and got some Verbatin with Advanced AZO. It actually began to record so I was happy: I had already blew $10 on crap media. Then the error that is bolded below happened. I checked my firmware, nothing new out, The discs are good, and did the Golden Rules of Burning: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread...;threadid=49635 So I pop another disc in and let it go overnight, Tracking servo failure at 50% 1. Is my recorder getting too hot? 2. Do i need to set the speed down lower- Its at 2.4x currently. 3. Should I try to make an ISO with IMGBurn of the ISO when it is mounted? 4. Does having the image mounted when you try to burn bad? 5. Am I selecting the layer switch position wrong? LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 To me, it doesn't look like you're doing anything wrong yourself, it's your hardware letting you down. Now that could either be the drive, the media or a combination of the two. Verbatims are normally ok but you can get duff batches with all media. It's up to you if you want to keep buying discs (and potentially making coasters) or just buy a new drive where reviews show it works fine on the DL media you own.

Any good devices that you know of for both the external and internal world? LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 You could buy an Icy Box USB enclosure and stick any old drive you like in it.... just an idea So long as your 1 Ghz machine can cope with ~22mb/s transfer rate you'll be ok. That's what you'd need for 16x
