pricej051582 Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I was able to burn a couple of dvd's with the philips dvd + r dl but now doesn't recognize the disk. I'm not sure if there were changes made to the settings by accident that I'm not aware of. Any ideas to why it worked at first, but now does not?
pricej051582 Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 I searched for firmware updates with 97 results, so I'm not sure what to do there.
Ch3vr0n Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Let's start by you posting the exact drive model, current firmware etc (everything should be in the 'discover' mode window)Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
pricej051582 Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 Thanks for responding. I'm not sure If this is what is being requested, however, under Device manager, DVD/CD-ROM drives: hp_DVDRW__DU8A6SH And beneath Firmware: System Firmware and nothing more when double clicking on System Firmware. Truly appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve this issue.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Post the log from ImgBurn and post the info Ch3vr0m mentioned from within ImgBurn's drive/disc info window on the right please. Just load the program, go into Write mode, put one of the (new) blank discs in and copy + paste everything from that window on the right.
pricej051582 Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 From a search online, apparently the firmware version is in this description: SCSI\CDROM&VEN_HP&PROD_DVDRW__DU8A6SH\4&142C02EC&0&010000
pricej051582 Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 I 07:18:48 ImgBurn Version 2.5.8.0 started! I 07:18:48 Microsoft Windows 8 Core x64 Edition (6.2, Build 9200) I 07:18:48 Total Physical Memory: 4,059,376 KiB - Available: 824,424 KiB I 07:18:48 Initialising SPTI... I 07:18:48 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 07:18:49 -> Drive 1 - Info: hp DVDRW DU8A6SH DH61 (E:) (SATA) I 07:18:49 Found 1 DVD±RW/RAM! The above is all that reads in the log since it's not recognizing the blank dvd. At the Bottom of Imgburn; the program says: "Device Not Ready (Medium Not Present-Tray Open)" I Close The Tray, Program Says: "Device Not Ready: Logical Unit In the process of becoming ready" then says: "Incompatible Medium Installed" It's not recognizing the disc. Please let me know if this is not what you're asking for, I'm not very tech inclined.
pricej051582 Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 To me, it appears that there is a setting on the cd-rom or dvd drive itself preventing the recognition of the blank disks since three different burn programs are not recognizing the blank disk philips dvd+r dl rw disks. I was able to burn the dvd's a day or two before on these disks. The confusing is, i'm able to put in, and the program recognizes a dvd-r single layer disk, but doesn't have enough space for the burn. Seems the only issue is the dvd+r dl rw.
pricej051582 Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 In Imgburn, under discovery, reads: hp DVDRW DU8A6SH DH61 (SATA) Current Profile: N/A
LIGHTNING UK! Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Ok so the drive no longer recognise a blank one of those discs? You’ll have to try some other discs or get another drive. Cleaning the drive may help... but it also might not. Haha.
pricej051582 Posted December 20, 2019 Author Posted December 20, 2019 Ok. Any idea for what could be the reason for the sudden change to where after a couple discs, they are now unrecognizable? Assuming I need a type of software to "clean the drive?"
Ch3vr0n Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Crappy blanks, drive doesn't like them. And no you can't clean a drive with software, you'd need a physical cleaning disc and those are risky to use. Can damage the drive laserSent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
pricej051582 Posted December 21, 2019 Author Posted December 21, 2019 Now getting "unable to find any cells that could be used for the layer break" ??
pricej051582 Posted December 21, 2019 Author Posted December 21, 2019 THere's an icon saying that I could continue anyway but not recommended?
dbminter Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 In that particular case, you probably have a DVD-9 that's nearly fully. Most likely nothing to do with being unable to detect media.
