philips dvd+r dl (burnt couple disk) Now says: incompatible medium installed

I was able to burn a couple of dvd's with the philips dvd + r dl but now doesn't recognize the disk. I'm not sure if there were changes made to the settings by accident that I'm not aware of. 

Any ideas to why it worked at first, but now does not?

I searched for firmware updates with 97 results, so I'm not sure what to do there.

Let's start by you posting the exact drive model, current firmware etc (everything should be in the 'discover' mode window)

Thanks for responding. I'm not sure If this is what is being requested, however, under Device manager, DVD/CD-ROM drives: hp_DVDRW__DU8A6SH 

And beneath Firmware: System Firmware and nothing more when double clicking on System Firmware. 

Truly appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve this issue.

Post the log from ImgBurn and post the info Ch3vr0m mentioned from within ImgBurn's drive/disc info window on the right please. Just load the program, go into Write mode, put one of the (new) blank discs in and copy + paste everything from that window on the right.

The above is all that reads in the log since it's not recognizing the blank dvd. 

At the Bottom of Imgburn; the program says: "Device Not Ready (Medium Not Present-Tray Open)"

I Close The Tray, Program Says: "Device Not Ready: Logical Unit In the process of becoming ready" then says: "Incompatible Medium Installed" 

It's not recognizing the disc. 

Please let me know if this is not what you're asking for, I'm not very tech inclined.

To me, it appears that there is a setting on the cd-rom or dvd drive itself preventing the recognition of the blank disks since three different burn programs are not recognizing the blank disk philips dvd+r dl rw disks. I was able to burn the dvd's a day or two before on these disks. The confusing is, i'm able to put in, and the program recognizes a dvd-r single layer disk, but doesn't have enough space for the burn. Seems the only issue is the dvd+r dl rw.

Ok so the drive no longer recognise a blank one of those discs? You’ll have to try some other discs or get another drive. Cleaning the drive may help... but it also might not. Haha.

Ok.  Any idea for what could be the reason for the sudden change to where after a couple discs, they are now unrecognizable? Assuming I need a type of software to "clean the drive?"

Crappy blanks, drive doesn't like them. And no you can't clean a drive with software, you'd need a physical cleaning disc and those are risky to use. Can damage the drive laser

In that particular case, you probably have a DVD-9 that's nearly fully.  Most likely nothing to do with being unable to detect media.
