A question about Imgurn.

I am sorry if this is posted in the wrong section but i have a problem. I want to transfer some files from my PC to a disc (DVD-RW) but since my optical drive is a DVD-ROM (asus e616a3t) I've heared that i cannot write stuff on blank DVDs, is this true? if it is then can i use ImgBurn to burn files on my the blank DVD?

a dvd rom can only read from a disc, you would have to buy a dvd burner to write to disc
