Arkhamjester Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 (edited) Hi, I've begun using Imgburn so I can burn Sega Saturn discs. When I use it for unmodified ROMS like Magic Night Rayearth or Shining Force III it burns just fine. Got to play said discs on my actual Sega Saturn. Then I decided to play Shining Force III Scenario 2 (which requires a fan translation) I got the image to work on my computer but whenever I try to burn the disc I get most of the way through it before "Very failed, Layouts do not match" and everything stops, except the disc is half burned already and more or less useless. here is the log, any clue what I should do? I'm already loking into getting an optical drive cleaner so any other suggestions would be helpful. EDIT:Okay here's an update, I tried burning Rayearth again, same setup that sorked last time, to see if it worked. it didn't I 10:59:26 ImgBurn Version 2.5.8.0 started! dbminter Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 This is your most likely culprit: I 13:21:56 Destination Media Type: CD-R (Disc ID: 97m26s66f, CMC Magnetics Corp.) CMC Magnetics makes the WORST optical discs out there. Most of the problems we see on this board are caused by CMC or other cheap discs. CMC would also explain why it worked at one point and didn't work later. CMC is like that. You can get some good discs but most are junk. Try Verbatim DataLife Plus CD's. NOT Verbatim Life Series you find in stores, which are CMC. You will only find the good stuff in online stores like Amazon.com. If you can't find DataLife Plus, try "genuine" Taiyo Yuden CD's.
Arkhamjester Posted June 7, 2020 Author Posted June 7, 2020 Okay here's an update, tried several discs on several other writers, even found one that could burn slower then the rest, even dug up some Sony made CD R's, nothing changed. Is Verbatim DataLife Plus that much of a difference?
