LIGHTNING UK!
It's probably just down to the media you're using. Although you say they're Verbatim discs, I'm afraid they're the wrong ones.... perhaps the 'value' range? Yours use the CMC MID/dye rather than the MCC/MKM one. Look for the 'Azo' label on Verbatim media and avoid their value range. If you get the decent stuff and the drive still errors out, you'll have to invest in a new drive. dbminter
I was thinking this was the cause before I even read the log: I 11:36:27 Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: CMC MAG. AM3) As LUK said, you're using the junk Verbatim. Verbatim releases the best media, but they also release media from the worst manufacturer out there: CMC Magnetics. If you bought these Verbatim in a brick and mortar store, you got the Life Series, which are the CMC trash. What you want are the DataLife Plus (NOT the Life Series.) or AZO media you only find in online stores like Amazon.com. CMC is repsonsible for over half of the problems we see on this board. It's generally not magic when people switch to the higher quality media over the stuff like CMC. However, it's not always a magic bullet. For instance, the LG WH16N60 appears to no longer like the quality DVD discs Verbatim releases.
sparafucille
thank you both LIGHTNING UK! & dbminter for your prompt answer This is the only kind of Verbatim I could find here. Will try Ebay next time. It does not always happen. sometimes it does, sometimes it does not. but it is a recent phenomena and my LG is quite old. it refuse to burn DL (in the sense that it fails every time) Maybe I'll start with a new dvd writer
dbminter
Yes, that's the nature of cheap media like CMC. Sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't. That's how terrible the quality/quality control is at CMC.
