Logical block address out of range during verify

It's probably what I suspected before even opening the log.

This goes a bit toward explaining it:

I 19:54:52 Source Media Type: CD-R (Disc ID: 97m26s66f, CMC Magnetics Corp.)

but it does not as readily explain why the Sony disc also failed.  However, I have a feeling it's related.

CMC Magnetics Corporation makes the absolutely worst discs out there.  They are utter trash.  You most likely bought the Verbatim Life Series CD-R from a brick and mortar store.  The Life Series are junk.

Now, Sony isn't as easily dismissed, but, over the past 23 years, Sony has also made little but junk.  So, I'd be willing to wager their CD-R are just as much garbage as their BD-R's are.

First thing I'd concentrate on is not using the trash media.  Get yourself some Verbatim DataLife Plus (NOT the Life Series.) or AZO CD-R.  Mitsubishi makes those.  Those and Taiyo Yuden were the best out there for decades.  Don't know about the state of TY's anymore after CMC Magnetics bought them.  CMC Pro DVD-R media is still quality TY discs, though, last I used them.

I just burned a dozen more audio discs to discs off that same spindle. ZERO problems. Here's a new log where I tried using that cue file to a CD-RW. SAME problem as I got with it before three times in a row.

I used a fresh out of the package, never used before CD-RW, so it's not a 'worn out' rewriteable.

How about actually having a look at the cue instead of just dissing and dismissing it as a problem with the brands of media?

I took a close look at the CD-Rs and the CD-RW. Using this cue, imgburn is leaving a visible gap in the middle of the recorded area. That isn't there on the CD-R I burned with the files, without using the cue.

I find it suspicious that your error occurs around the same spot for BOTH discs. You burn 18 tracks and on the 18th track, you encounter the read error. This is present for the CMC disc burn in your first post and the Infodisc CD-RW used in your post afterwards.

Since this is a pattern with two different types of discs, I feel like it could even be your drive. There are many factors involved here so it may sometimes be difficult to diagnose. I would recommend trying a different drive and seeing if it gets better or trying a slower burn speed.

Also Mr. Minter still has a valid point and is only trying to help, most of the problems faced across this forum is due to faulty media, especially media manufactured by CMC Magnetics Corp. MOST of the time, switching to a different brand, like the Data Life Plus Discs Mr. Minter mentioned previously, tend to fix the issues as drives are more compatible with those discs.

Different drive, different discs. 100% of the time IMGburn fails but only when using this cue file to burn the files with it. If I just throw the files at it, they burn and verify fine but I don't get the CD TEXT.

I tried it with Nero Burning ROM but it said there's an error in line 17

That's the INDEX 01 00:00:00 which is there for every track. Nero rejects all the cue files for that same reason. So I deleted all the INDEX 01 00:00:00 lines and Nero accepted the file and burnt the disc, and verified it. No blank looking stripe in the middle *but* also no CD TEXT info on it.

So I tried the edited cue with IMGburn and it starts to burn then
