ultramegaburningenthiseist Posted May 19, 2025 Posted May 19, 2025 i think my opinion/guess is that its prob just a bad batch. il most likely buy verbatim's branded media once Amazon Prime Day sales start, and then il test them if they are the same. i will also be visually checking them to see if they are using the same burning "die" even though its not. il also do some LDC/BIS scanning to see if they return the same quality or not. i usually save results to compare them in the future. though im not worried since i also have some printable disks i bought like last year and i also recently bought the last spindle of sony BD-Rs and 128GB disks.
Kabombon Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago This is quite unfortunate. I have yet to see a DOA (Dead on Arrival) batch myself. I bought 4 spindles of 25 containing MediaRange BD-R SL (CMCMAG-BA5-000) discs, and none of them had any issues upfront, I could burn and properly verify them. Have yet to see if the data on them is still properly readable or not after an year of being stored away but I have high hopes.
dbminter Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I would highly recommend you perform a Verify test on at least a few of those CMC discs burned a year ago. Anything with CMC in its Disc ID generally raises red flags for low quality media.
