polopony Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 the drive cant set the laser power to burn those discs ,they have a third class rating (pretty poor)and while in the past you could burn with the benq the Lite On doesn't like them .Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden are the only discs we reccommend ,you can also check for a firmware update. PS what was wrong with the benQ it has a good reputation and worked for you why get rid of it

LIGHTNING UK! Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I've never actually seen any philips DL media before. They're certainly not very common and that's probably why you're experiencing problems - the firmware hasn't been tweaked to burn them correctly.
