First time burning discs, early into the process the drive stops reading the disc completely.

Trying to write files/folders to a disc, everything went fine at first, drive could read the disc just fine and I was able to begin the process, but after I believe track 1 it's cut short and now my drive refuses to read anything, even after reinstalling it through Device Manager. Windows and ImgBurn still recognise the drive being there, but no media is read.

By now, I assume you’ve removed power from the drive completely and powered it back on again. 
 

Same issue with the drive not being able to see the disc? Can it read original / pressed / silver discs? Sounds like it might have just died. I’m afraid that’s just bad luck, things do randomly just break.
