I have been burning single layer disks for some time now (using dvd-decrypter, dvd shrink, and sometimes Nero), and never have any issues. I usually use TDK DVD+R and find them very reliable.

I have just started to look at burning DL disks, with IMGBURN, but I am having troubles. The disks seem to burn OK, but they always have errors when they verify. Despite the verify errors, the disks will play perfect in the PC (sound, video quality, changing layer etc), but they will not play in any stand-alone player. The standalone player will usually display a ?Disk Error? message on the TV.

I started using TDK DL disks, but after checking this forum, changed to Verbatim with no luck. I updated the firmware on the DVD burner to the latest (Samsung TS-H552B). The PC is a PIV, 1 Gb Ram running Win XP Pro SP2.

Any Ideas?

The verify errors are a little odd.

It's hard to say if the drive has a problem burning the media or it if has a problem reading it back.

The only way to tell is to build an ISO rather than going direct to disc.

The burn + verify in the samsung and do another verify in another drive (if you have one of course!)

Your players might work better with the discs if you perform bitsetting to make them look like DVDROM discs rather than DVD+R DL.

For bitsetting, click the little book icon down the bottom right of the screen (when in Write mode) or on the Device tab when in Build mode.

(Or do Tools -> Drive -> Change Book Type...)

Configure that appropriate option on the samsung tab AND THEN burn your disc. It should then come out saying:

I 18:37:27 Source Media Type: DVD+R DL (Book Type: DVDROM) (Disc ID: MKM-001-00) (Speeds: 2.4x)
rather than
