No idea who actually makes your drive, it's one of those annoying unbranded ones.

I'm sure you could search Google and find some info on it though.

Look for a firmware update for it and try some other media. You might have more luck with DVD+R type Verbatim (Still MCC dye) discs.

Basically, it just looks like your drive isn't burning to those properly - hence the errors when reading them back.

The firmware for your drive is indeed very hard to find, i have asked cyberhome/cyberdrive for support on your behalf, do not hold your breath though, 171F is the latest I believe, i have asked a few people who have 150F if they can find it on their hard drive no response as of yet though, i do have 140F from i think dangerous brothers link ---FIRMWARE

This is at your own risk and check to make sure i have not made a mistake, your drive is a Cyberdrive DX162D-A or a cyberhome version ?

If so you should be good to go, dunno if 140F will fix the type of errors your getting, best off using some high quality media first to see if the errors vanish b4 updating with firmware i posted.

Posted

ok, it is a cyberhome drive and not a cyberdrive as far as i know caus ei dont have the box anymore. should i still try using that firmware or not? and im ussing mcc dye media so i dont think thats the problem unless light lighting uk said i need +r

Posted

if its not the right firmware you shouldnt be able to flash with it ,you'll get some kind of pop up stating it,The media is excellent I use it all the time with no problems .When you get sick and tired of that drive reputable ones are around $40You show 130 firmware latest is 171f if thats correct then you are way behind and sometimes updating firmware is all it takes for success

The NEC is a very good machine. I'm still using an old 1100 as a backup in the server and it works excellently. I haven't owned/used an I/O but I'd put my money into the NEC if that's the choices available. Merry Christmas.

Posted
I'm going to pick up some better media tomorrow to see. As far as the firmware, as you can see in the logs and by my post I changed to a newer drive; Lite-On DVDRW LH-18A1P GL03. According to Lite-On's site, there are no firmware updates.

I have 2 NEC's the latest being a 3500 it just burns perfect discs to Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden discs every time all verify 100%,its also burned alot of them 500+ is an easy guess

I eventually managed to tracked down i think the last firmware for your drive thanks to ala42.

so i uploaded it to my rapidshare folders.

password will be ascii1967

DX162D_170F

edit 171F was the last but hey close enough
