Tiger Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 (edited) Hello Friends I am facing a weired problem and I hope to get some help. I used ImgBurn to build a DVD image of the folder containing VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS Folders. As I tried to burn it on a DVD it failed to verify the burnt image. In the past in one of threads here I was told that it may so happen that even when a burn process verification fails the Disc is burnt properly.Keeping this in mind I played the disc and it played without any problem. After playing it few times suddenly today near the mid of the disc, the disc froze. It appeared that as if the player is trying to play the disc, but it was not successful. After trying for a while the disc started to play from the beginning. Now I found that the disc is stopping much earlier than the first time. Those portions which played flawlessly even when it stopped for the first time, have started to develop problems of freezing. I cleaned the lens of the DVD player, and the disk to, but the situation did not improve. The other details which you may need are as follows: Player: PHILIPS 625K Burner: LITEON LightScribe 165HS upgraded to latest available firmwire The relevant log of ImgBurn is as follows: ; //****************************************\\; ImgBurn Version 2.1.0.0 - Log ; Monday, 18 December 2006, 10:33:06 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 10:03:42 ImgBurn Version 2.1.0.0 started! dontasciime Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 check the hard drive for errors where the video files are stored on your computer, right click on the hard drive, choose properties, then tools, check now and tick top box only. Are they genuine taiyo yudens and not something like mirror platinum 8x with fake ty id. Sounds like ya home dvd player does not like them or is gradually becoming faulty, does it play something your wrote from genuine dvd files and not something you converted from divx, avi etc. Maybe your liteon is faulty, if your using latest firmware, try some different disc's, even if your using genuine Ty's , you may just have some faulty ones, Rarely happens but has to be considered a little.
Tiger Posted December 21, 2006 Author Posted December 21, 2006 Thank you for your reply. The drive where the video file is stored is FAT32 as I need to access it using Linux. Are they genuine taiyo yudens and not something like mirror platinum 8x with fake ty id.How am I supposed to ascertain that? Sounds like ya home dvd player does not like them or is gradually becoming faulty, Which one- the disc or the DVD player? My DVD player generally plays all the files quite flawlessly- be it converted or not. This file in question is a converted one from DivX. Maybe your liteon is faulty, if your using latest firmware, try some different disc's, even if your using genuine Ty's , you may just have some faulty ones, Rarely happens but has to be considered a little. This drive is hardly a month and a half old. I have burnt one other disc brand earlier and they were burnt properly. So I sincerely hope that my new burner is not the culprit.
dontasciime Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 (edited) The drive where the video file is stored is FAT32 as I need to access it using Linux. why do you need to access it from linux your running XP. I presume the drive is installed to same computer running XP. Are the disc's you got branded or just silver tayio ? YOUR home dvd player was what i was referring to your Philip's, about converted divx, just wondering if all your other dvds play fine in Philip's player. Edited December 21, 2006 by dontasciime
Tiger Posted December 21, 2006 Author Posted December 21, 2006 Hello dontasciime Thank you for being so kind to answer my problems. why do you need to access it from linux your running XP.I have a dual boot PC, and I use Linux for different reasons. Sometimes I need to store some info/matters that I found while using Linux in a manner so that i can access while using XP. So I need a FAT32 partitions. I presume the drive is installed to same computer running XP. Yes Are the disc's you got branded or just silver tayio ?No this discs are branded as navtech, coloured white with violet coloured writing. This is their home page: http://www.navtech.org/ YOUR home dvd player was what i was referring to your Philip's, about converted divx, just wondering if all your other dvds play fine in Philip's player. I do not have many DVDs, hardly get any time to watch them. According to the DVD player's manual the player is supposed to play DVD+R and DVD+RWs. What I was thinking is which one you were referring as gradually becoming faulty. Thank you again.
dontasciime Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 (edited) I would have to say or rather guess that the media you have with mid code TYG02 are faked , never heard of navtech, that would be from my location in UK, I am guessing your in India or that region. I would also say get some DVD+R as it sounds like your home dvd player does not like DVD-R (you have already indicated after reading manual that it states (Playback of dvd+r and +rw) Get some verbatim dvd+R. and change book type to dvd-rom with your new liteon drive Hard to say if you got fake TY's check here for some guidance http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden...ke-or-real.html Edited December 21, 2006 by dontasciime
Kenadjian Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Yup, it's nothing more than a disc problem, the simple fact that it won't verify tells me the drive doesn't like them and your burns arn't of good quality, as mentioned above try some verbs with MCC dye, and see if your drive/player likes those.
Tiger Posted December 21, 2006 Author Posted December 21, 2006 So at least I hope that that my new Burner is not the one to be blamed- right? Thank you all for helping me.
Tiger Posted December 21, 2006 Author Posted December 21, 2006 Could you please also tell me why the Disc is not giving any trouble in first few runs?
spinningwheel Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Off branded, mis-branded and/or faked media is always of questionable reliability. Some disks may be made correctly and others may be pure scrap, therefore some work for a while and others fail right out of the burner. The difference in price between the premium brands Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim DataLifePlus vs. other crap branded material is not that great to begin with, and when you add in the cost of all the disks that you originally paid for that will fail right from the beginning, bargain branded disks will always cost you more than the premium data disks we recommend/use here.
lfcrule1972 Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 No worries - I would just add to the opinions above that it's the discs rather than your burner giving you grief !
