ybeard Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Hi there.... I've been a longtime user of DVD Decrypter and finally decided to give ImgBurn a try. I use Taiyo Yuden TYG02 -R Value media and it works great with DVD Decrypter. They invariably verify just fine. However, using ImgBurn, I've had 3 of 4 fail verification. Burning the same ISO's using DVD Decrypter results in a perfect burn and verifies correctly. I use a Pioneer 110D w/1.37 FW. I run AnyDVD in the background. My OS is Win2K. I haven't tried removing AnyDVD to see if that makes a difference, but couldn't see why it should if DVD Decrypter works. Obviously, I'm able to burn DVD's with the older software, but I was looking to run the current software in case I happen to buy another writer that the older software might not support. Any clues?
kevdriver Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Beard, first off theres new firmware for your drive.... 1.41 www.rpc1.org You should update to the lastest available for your burner. I would say that your verifying problems come from using bad media but you are using tys so could you please post a log of the failed burn-verify so the guys can have a closer look at whats happening. help>img logs>copy and paste. Thanks
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 From what I can remember, DVD Decrypter just tried to see if the sectors could be read back, it didn't compare the contents of the freshly burnt disc to that of the image file - this is something new to ImgBurn. As it says in the log, AnyDVD can cause issues with the verfiy as it changes stuff on-the-fly. It needs to be disabled when using that function within ImgBurn. Of course what I've said above only really applies if you're getting 'miscompare' errors. If you're getting proper I/O Errors, I'll have to think of something else!

ybeard Posted January 20, 2007 Author Posted January 20, 2007 Was that verify with or without AnyDVD on? Looks like it was on to me. E 10:16:30 Miscompare at LBA: 280, Offset: 35, File: VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO Turn it off next time you verify and it should be ok. That was with it on before I even posted my original message. I've since turned it off and have been burning some DVD"s. I've burned 3 so far and they've verified fine, so looks like it was the AnyDVD after all. I guess I just didn't realize that the verify on DVD Decrypter wasn't a 'true' verify in a bit for bit sense. Thanks all for the attention and I should have tried turning AnyDVD off in the first place.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 The warnings in the log weren't added for fun
hetster Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 i to am getting frequen failed to verify..i dont have anydvd enabled (never really have) i also use verbatims dvd+r DL 2.4x rated its allways just 1 error and it happens in all different places 8%...27%...93% etc i am in udma 4 and the buffer never underruns i will edit with a log next time i burn 1 and verify.. they all read back ok in the pc..they are legit backups of 360 games i own..so far they play fine but i may not have hit an error yet. so i was just wondering if the verify is 100% accurate or if its normal for an odd error here and there..or if there was anything that could intefere with the verify. i have 1 virtual drive installed but nothing running in the background except windows messenger as i allways disable and end processes to maximise my chances of a succesful burn (they arent cheap those DL verbs lol).. my burner is pioneer 111d with 1.29 firmware not crossflashed etc and is only a few weeks old..it burns SL dvd's fine its only on DL i get problems ty in advance
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Verify should be 100% accurate, yes. If you get an error when burning + verifying a DVD image, you've got a problem somewhere.
hetster Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 (edited) If you get an error when burning + verifying a DVD image, you've got a problem somewhere. i AM burning to + dvd+r DL verbatims..and i am verifying from an iso created from the original game so shouldnt be any corruption etc dont suppose anyone has a link to troubleshooting such an issue? i thought i had done everything right..i installed force aspi..i uninstalled the via ide controller..i have latest firmware..i exit all non essential prgrams while burning. i buy decent media..i have replaced all the ide cables..i have the burner on its own ide set to master..i have read somewhere about a M$ burning service being disabled but cannot find page anymore lol out of 9 burns all verbatims under the conditions mentioned above 7 have failed verification..that seems a lot to me if your saying verification is 100% accurate so if anyone has a definitive guide to burning problems please feel free to share Edited January 20, 2007 by hetster
kevdriver Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 hetster, check out the FAQ section of forum. Cornholio 7 has an excellent guide on there with pics which should answer your question.
hetster Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 hmm only faq there is from lightning uk and none of them pertain to my problem. i searched for posts by Cornholio 7 and managed to get to page 8 still with no faq lol..are you sure it was Cornholio 7
kevdriver Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 my mistake hetster, its in the guides section.
LIGHTNING UK! Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 hetster, Can't you post a log of one of your burns + verify failing.
hetster Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 i will post as soon as i buy another game to backup..then again i might just burn 1 i allready have again..i know its a waste of a disk but this is starting to bug me now lol.. i feel i am doing everything right but still get failed verification. @kevdriver. those guides as useful as they are have nothing to do with my problems and i actualy know how to use imageburn..its the verification i'm haviing problems with..but any input is input so i am grateful
kevdriver Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Verify should be 100% accurate, yes. If you get an error when burning + verifying a DVD image, you've got a problem somewhere. hetster, Can't you post a log of one of your burns + verify failing. Hetster, This is why your being asked to post a complete log of a failed burn/verify. These logs include lots of info that could show why your verifys aren't 100%. I have the same burner as you so I too am interested in what may be causing this problem for you.....
hetster Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 (edited) i didnt have a log to hand..so i just reburnt a game and would ya believe it. it didnt fail ths time lol..so thats 7 outta 10..they are too expensive to just burn any ld rubbish to lol.. the second i have 1 that fails i will post the results here..but then again that was a copy of a copy..i think it may be the way 360 games have security sectors etc that may be why its failing to verify as these are from original games that i own..NOT i repeat NOT downloaded ones etc so they have all the security sectors still in..it might just be coincidence that original 360 games fail to verify but a backup of a backup passes..but untill i get a log i'll reserve any judgement.. thanks to everyone so far..especialy lightning UK (no offence kev driver lol) its not often you get the authors of the software itself helping in forums..keep up the good work i'm very happy with imgburn on SL and hopefully DL soon lol Edited January 21, 2007 by hetster
lfcrule1972 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 You don't have to burn another disc, ImgBurn saves the logs for you. You can retrieve yours by Help>img logs>and then copy/paste the last one with an error here

hetster Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 as you can see both are gamename.dvd format..that is from otiginal game ripped with a kreon drive. the lst 1 i did as a test to get a log (thanks lfcrule1972 for the log info) was a backup of a backup ripped with dvddecrypter in the format xbox360.iso and that passed..it may just be originals it fails on but i'd have to check through a lot of logs.. i could not find verbatims in my local town and had to try other DL media (what a mistake lol) and had over 50 failed burns with ricohjpn dye..my burner 111d just doesnt like them and i had 75 blanks of them by all different manufacturers lol..oh well ya live and learn
dontasciime Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 (edited) dont suppose anyone has a link to troubleshooting such an issue? i thought i had done everything right..i installed force aspi..i uninstalled the via ide controller Why you using this force aspi and why uninstall via ide controller ? Also i would scan the hard drive your storing your 360 iso files for errors using built in windows error checking tool, just the top box though ( auto fix file system errors) Edited January 22, 2007 by dontasciime
lfcrule1972 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 The ONLY decent DL media is Verbatim DVD+R DL as you now know
hetster Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 (edited) Why you using this force aspi and why uninstall via ide controller this is just something i have allways done..being a long term member and helper of cdfreaks i know that this is just good practice..the force aspi are the most stable and widely supported..i know a lot of burning problems come from via/nforce ide controllers when to be hones the MS provided ide controllers are quite sufficient.. the only other tip i have come accross that i didnt know of myself was the cd burning service in windows but havent looked into that yet scanned c: and passed on files indexes security desciptors usn jornol then did a full sector scan and i have no bad sectors either.. its a strange 1 Edited January 22, 2007 by hetster
