lfcrule1972 Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Ok well if your drive does support PI/PO scanning you need to use Google to grab the latest copy of DVDinfoPro (by Nic Wilson, I think it's Wilson anyway !!) Then install DVDinfoPro and open the program. Insert the disc you want to test for burn quality into the supported drive From the list of buttons along the top of the DVDinfoPro window select PI/PO Check out the scan .png file below to replicate the DVDinfoPro settings (shown on right of screen) Once the settings in your window match those above use the Start button on lower right of screen to start the test. When it reaches 100% you can click the little camera button to save the scan as a .png file (it may default to .jpg, but .png is better quality) Finally you can then either host the image at www.imageshack.us and copy the link to display it here or simply attach it when using ADDREPLY on the forum and it will be displayed for you.
Tiger Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Ok, I did the TEST, though ?I am not sure whether Jitter is supported or not as the option was greyed out through out. I have also did the same test Using NERO CD DVD SPEED, just in case it helps you to decide [surprisingly the test differ quite a lot in the quality score output]. The report generated by NERO is as follows: General Information Drive: LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165H6S Firmware: HS0E Disc: DVD-R (POSG06) Selected speed: 4 X PI errors Maximum: 154 Average: 50.84 Total: 718762 PI failures Maximum: 6 Average: 0.16 Total: 3188 PO failures: n/a Jitter Maximum: 8.6 % Average: 7.97 % Scanning Statistics Elapsed time: 15:13 Number of samples: 122865 Average scanning interval: 1.14 ECC Glitches removed: 0 I did this test with NERO twice, and the first time there was no Jitter, it was mentioned as n/a. General Information Drive: LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165H6S Firmware: HS0E Disc: DVD-R (POSG06) Selected speed: 4 X PI errors Maximum: 288 Average: 83.97 Total: 913662 PI failures Maximum: 3 Average: 0.16 Total: 3007 PO failures: n/a Jitter: n/a Scanning Statistics Elapsed time: 10:56 Number of samples: 93755 Average scanning interval: 1.15 ECC Glitches removed: 0 I have no idea what has really happened. Anyways, I hope this would help you. I tried my best, still if there is an change required, I shall be happy to apply that and contribute in my very small way to this community.
dontasciime Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 (edited) you choose speed MAX in dvdinfopro try it with either the 4x you selected in Nero cd dvd speed or 8x never use max option Edited January 25, 2007 by dontasciime
Tiger Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Very well I'll be happy to post another result. BTW, while running this test can I run other applications like Browsers?
lfcrule1972 Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Yeah use 8x speed and maybe the results will be better - at the mo Lightning UK!'s suggestion for POS seems about right !
Tiger Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 (edited) Hi Ifcrule, here is another test result. The second test using NERO used the same DVD in the same drive and in between the two tests the DVD was not removed from the drive. About five minutes gap was allowed between these two tests. Please comment. Edited January 26, 2007 by Tiger
