Infiniti 8x DVD+R DL layer break crash

I have a Pioneer 111D firmware 1.29 rpc1 fix and I bought some Inifiniti Dual Layer DVD+R's to burn some Dual Layered ISO's (w/ MDS accompanied files). Problem I have been trying to sort out is that when I my 111D starts trying to burn layer 1 (2nd layer) from the ISO image using ImgBurn 2.1.0.0, I get a 20 failed retry error messages and I have to cancel the process. I have done this with the same ISO on these blank DVD+R DL media several times and still get the same error. Can any1 here suggest why this is so? Could this be a media problem or ISO problem? as far as I know they sort of burn okay on gray top Titatinium Datawrite DL DVD+R's but not always perfect. here's my log report on my last DL burn:

P.S. I made slight changes to the ISO's Volume name so that the Volume name is GITS_SAC_1stGIG_Vol1 instead of GHOST_IN_THE_SHELL_V1_DOLBY, may that effect the write process from layer 0 to layer 1?

PLEASE help me with this as I have already wasted several DL disks on trying to burn this 1st ISO from a series of 7 DL ISO's

Thanks

EDIT:

Here is an example of the error popup window that comes up when layer 1 crashes

trueno, by the looks of it your pioneer doesn't like those discs. Try burning again at 2.4X instead of max speed. If that fails, try the same image using Verbatim +DLs and see what happens. We highly reccommend these discs for dual layer burning. :)

Thanks for the reply... I had a feeling that I brought the wrong blank media... I cant believe that these Inifiniti DL DVD+R's are so incompatible with my Pioneer 111D...

Does any1 have any idea what kind of software should I be using which is from Spruce Technologies, because the ISO's that I am trying to burn onto these DL DVD+Rs were created using Spruce Technologies DVD9 creater... Much Appreciated!

trueno, try burning those Ricohs at 2.4X and see what happens. They may be okay? We just recommend Verbs as the DL media of choice. Post back and let us know what happens. Have you tried using Imgs' build mode to create your .ISO image?

Hi again,

I have tried all supported speeds that the 111D can write onto these Infiniti DL disks (are they really made by Ricoh?), hence the several coasters that I have now, and yes I even tried extracting the iso's and rebuilding the vob files using imgBurn, I still get the same layer 1 write error...

I've also had some problems with DataWrite Gray top Titanium dual layer disks aswell but not as much with the Infiniti ones... I'm gonna try burning the ISO's as normal data files using Nero 7 and see if the disks are any better and determine whether imgBurn is the problem...

I'll keep this post updated with new findings

Cheers :D

as it says , Invalid address for Write . meaning the drive cannot follow the instructions to write to the disc at the point it should write. Botttom line is its the media

you can see it managed to write to the disc till it got to sector 2044640 , then it just didnt recognise the disc .

You may find a brand that will work, ut i suggest as wel that you go straight to verbatim's.

in the pop up error message you posted , the write error occured at sector 1631328 which shows that the writer struggles with the discs at various points. sector 1631328 is probably in layer 0 on this occasion

I haven't tested the exact dye on the discs you are using but just to echo the gents above the only DL media worth using is Verbatim, take a look through the Drives/Media section of this forum at all the Dual Layer burns, then work out which is the best media to use :)

I have now tried "AGAIN" burning onto these Infiniti DL disks and I am now convinced that imgBurn, my burner, and the iso's are perfectly okay... So I am going to find those Verbatim DL disks you all been raving about and give them a try...

Now... can you remind which dye type I should be looking for that has the best results of the Verbatim DL disks.

Many thanks to all you have replied and helped me understand the details with DL disks.

just buy Verbatim DL's they dont have a bunch of different dye manufacturers making them, I think its MKM and burn them at 2.4
